What Skiers Say About Val Thorens

Val Thorens attracts a wide range of skiers and snowboarders, from beginners to experts, with many praising its high altitude for snow reliability throughout the season. The resort is part of the Three Valleys, offering extensive terrain and well-maintained pistes with efficient lifts and minimal queuing. Après-ski is consistently highlighted as lively and energetic, with popular venues like Folie Douce and Bar 360, though some note it caters more to a younger, party-focused crowd. Most accommodation is ski-in/ski-out, and reviewers appreciate the variety of runs, though several mention that food and drinks are expensive. Beginners note limited green runs and that many blues can be challenging or icy, while advanced skiers praise off-piste options and access to neighbouring valleys.

Huge ski area if you get the 3 valleys pass so you can do really different days on your trip. Highly recommend heading up to Caron to get amazing panoramic views and less busy runs than in the centre.

The resort is one of the best I’ve ever been to and has some of the best Apres in France. I’ve been going every year for the last 3 years and never disappoints!

Been here numerous times and always love the vibe. Skiing over in Orelle is always fun and highly recommended- slopes are quiet and scenery is fantastic.
VT slopes are beautiful and if you’re lucky you will be able to ski through the ice cave.

Went on a university trip, different areas have different vibes. I stayed in areas with people my age (young 20s) but there were areas for kids and older people. Overall good vibes

Came over new year. Very very busy but the lifts weren’t too crowded. The slopes coming into val Thornes get very chopped up. Unfortunately not too much snow so no off piste but still had a great time.

Superb high snow sure option with something for everyone. We went late April and were extra lucky with a big dump of snow before we went. Amazing large valleys to explore and well linked resorts. If you are a fan of pretty alpine villages and tree lined runs this isn’t for you. But hard to beat for mileage and skiing all day without seeing the same slopes.

Great for beginners, lots of nice long greens and wide blues. Folie Douce was definitely a highlight of apres ski! Restaurants can be expensive but there are also some more budget friendly quick dining options

Great resort but sometimes you can be stuck in the valley if the weather is bad and the lifts are closed. Lots of good bars and pubs, it's a great choice for apres!

Great resort, access to a large ski area with brilliant atmosphere and food & drink options.

Cons can be very busy, and with some piste closures makes travelling between resorts difficult and time consuming.

I've been to Val T twice now and I love the easy of the resort. It has everything you need and is easy to find your way around. Your never too far from the slopes. I like to stay in chatered chalets usually as they work out cheaper and a fab experience br there aren't many close to the slopes in Val T so we had to stay in hotels. The snow is always good and the HUGE ski area is just fantastic for a week of boarding. Highly recommend!

Such a vast ski area that has everything for all abilities. It’s my favourite place to ski in the whole of the Three Valleys. Plenty of wide, slow and fast runs. Lots areas for beginner and advanced skiers. Pretty much guaranteed snow all season with being such a high resort. Easy access to the rest of the three valleys. Orelle is an absolute treat on a sunny day and often a lot quieter.
Apres is top drawer! Plenty of bars and restaurants. There’s a few grocery shops and take aways if you don’t want to be splashing out in a restaurant.
