What Skiers Say About Val Thorens

Val Thorens attracts a wide range of skiers and snowboarders, from beginners to experts, with many praising its high altitude for snow reliability throughout the season. The resort is part of the Three Valleys, offering extensive terrain and well-maintained pistes with efficient lifts and minimal queuing. Après-ski is consistently highlighted as lively and energetic, with popular venues like Folie Douce and Bar 360, though some note it caters more to a younger, party-focused crowd. Most accommodation is ski-in/ski-out, and reviewers appreciate the variety of runs, though several mention that food and drinks are expensive. Beginners note limited green runs and that many blues can be challenging or icy, while advanced skiers praise off-piste options and access to neighbouring valleys.

Val thorens is my favourite resort in the alpes. The apres ski is phenomenal, the people and vibes are unmatched, and the skiing is gorgeous. The cost of drinks is a little steep but when you consider where they are coming from and how they get them to the mountain it’s understandable. I would love to go back soon!

Very efficient lifts which meant we could get a lot of skiing done. Great selection of blue and reds runs, weather was beautiful and lots to do in the town centre. New Years fireworks were amazing! Food was exceptional everywhere we went in the town.

It’s just the best, most varied and all encompassing resort I’ve been to in all Europe. It really does cater for everyone. Even added bonuses like booking a torch lit descent after meat fondu half way up the slopes really make it such a special place! And the slopes are amazing! Being that high up on a glacier that doesn’t feel like a glacier (if you know what I mean) just gives it an extra plus. Three valleys pass is a must - so much skiing in a day if you take the first lift, you can see everything!

It was an amazing place to visit for my first ski trip! I would absolutely go back there again and I’d love to try some of the harder runs next time which my friends said were amazing. The accommodation and ski hire were both so efficient and of really high quality and I didn’t have any issues at all throughout the week.

I’ve skied all over the world and VT is by far the BEST resort I’ve ever skied. The runs are impeccable, the lifts are huge, not once did I have to queue. We were lucky to have amazing weather for most of the week and covered 50km every day exploring the entire Trois Valleys. I cannot wait to go back (hopefully in March 2026) for more amazing snow fun!

I really enjoyed Val Thorens. The slopes I was doing, mostly blues and reds, had a good range: some were more mogully, some thinner but more flowing, some really nice wide slopes higher up the mountain which I would recommend checking out if you can get first lift. The blacks I tried were very icy when I visited, however I’m sure with fresh snow (which we didn’t have) they would be great. Price wise, the resort is steeper than others I’ve visited, however the apres is great fun and the restaurants are very good. We stayed in Les Balcons 4 star, which was a really lovely place with a spa and gym. Overall, I’d recommend if the weather forecast says it will snow!

Great for Apres however a lot of students here. Waited a while for drinks. As an older skier timing to get to the lifts was everything. Don't enjoy the hustle and bustle so set off a bit later and it was quieter. Had time to enjoy my breakfast. Hotel Tango was well presented and great food and attentive staff however the ski in and ski out was probably not as described

Val Thorens is a great ski resort for all types of skiers. We skied as families with older teens and it was perfect.
Even during peak the lift queues are short, there are plenty of runs and apres ski is perfect.
Would definitely return.
