What Skiers Say About Val Thorens

Val Thorens attracts a wide range of skiers and snowboarders, from beginners to experts, with many praising its high altitude for snow reliability throughout the season. The resort is part of the Three Valleys, offering extensive terrain and well-maintained pistes with efficient lifts and minimal queuing. Après-ski is consistently highlighted as lively and energetic, with popular venues like Folie Douce and Bar 360, though some note it caters more to a younger, party-focused crowd. Most accommodation is ski-in/ski-out, and reviewers appreciate the variety of runs, though several mention that food and drinks are expensive. Beginners note limited green runs and that many blues can be challenging or icy, while advanced skiers praise off-piste options and access to neighbouring valleys.

Loved it, very busy at peak season but hundreds of km of runs to choose from! The apres was amazing, and the food especially was delicious.

VT is a massive resort even without the 3 valleys pass , great town with loads of food options, great nightlife. Folie is quite small but great vibes nonetheless

Great week in Val Thorens. Slightly icy due to lack of snow for a month, but still fairly decent coverage and they had a huge dump on our last two days, so plenty of powder!

I’ve been going to the 3 valleys for 18 years and there truly is no place like it for decent skiing. With a 3 valleys pass you can access so much piste meaning you never get bored of the same runs. Val Thorens is great for experienced skiers but also has a lot of options for beginners so my partner was able to go into lessons and cover lots of greens and blues! There’s lots of food and drink options at every price point and the Apres and nightlife is great too!

Great resort and family friendly. If you don't ski/snowboard there is still so much to do in the village!

They skiing was great with loads of runs to do no matter what your ability is.
Only issue was the slopes did get extremely busy in the afternoon!

There is plenty of skiing to be done even if you just stay in Val Thorens. It’s also part of the 3 valleys so has a huge amount of runs. You can go all the way to Courcheval and back in a day. We stayed in the hotel Tango and it was very good nice food and a good bar. We ended most days at the folie Douch which you have to go to. Would highly recommend the resort.

Really fun resort for skiing decent distances on nice runs and enjoying a good apres scene. The lifts weren’t too busy and our accommodation was super. The snow was great and eating out was fun. Bit slippy in the village but a super night out.

Second time visiting VT. The runs are extremely well maintained, and the lifts are efficient - never queued more than a few minutes.
The access to Méribel and Couchevel is fantastic.
Accomodation options slightly limited from a budget perspective but still adequate.
Apres ski is fantastic. In addition the nightlife is unreal. Restaurants are good value given the fantastic service and quality.

Great week skiing with my Son, took lessons on day 3 and didn’t look back after a number of years missing out on a Ski holiday. After the Skiing the bars were great as well as they sold Sans Glutton beer as he has cialiac (glutton free) decease.

White out on the first day so powder was excellent for the rest of the week. Really good apres ski in bar 360 and folie. Lifts to courchavel and meribel were mostly open however closed runs and poor snow at the bottom of meribel due to it being early in the season. Val Thorens had excellent restaurants and bars, and the price was not too bad if you are careful.

Val Thoren is an amazing all ability resort, not only that but it has fabulous spa, shop and restaurant options for post skiing and for non skiers on your trip!! 360 is a fabulous après ski spot that has easy green runs back into town for the less confident skiers to tackle. The après ski runs down from folie may be a bit harder for beginner skiers. The frog pub is a great spot to watch sport games and have a pint worth your money.

I loved Val Thorens a lot!! I went as a complete beginner with no ski experience and it was a lovely place to learn. It is a bit hit or miss with the instructors depending on how fast you can pick up skiing but I was reassigned to a group going at a slower pace and took in much more. Had a great time with friends at the bowling alley, and one club night at Malaysia had great music and vibes. Our accommodation was great too, though you could definitely do with extra bedding!

Easy to get to from Geneva, lively with a good buzz of people without feeling too busy. Great for beginners with wide practice slopes within an easily accessible area from town. We stayed higher up in town which was a bit harder to come on and off the slopes, but still easy to get into town to enter slopes from main central area. Good mix of party and chilled evenings.
