What Skiers Say About Val Thorens

Val Thorens attracts a wide range of skiers and snowboarders, from beginners to experts, with many praising its high altitude for snow reliability throughout the season. The resort is part of the Three Valleys, offering extensive terrain and well-maintained pistes with efficient lifts and minimal queuing. Après-ski is consistently highlighted as lively and energetic, with popular venues like Folie Douce and Bar 360, though some note it caters more to a younger, party-focused crowd. Most accommodation is ski-in/ski-out, and reviewers appreciate the variety of runs, though several mention that food and drinks are expensive. Beginners note limited green runs and that many blues can be challenging or icy, while advanced skiers praise off-piste options and access to neighbouring valleys.

Love Val Thorens, I’ve been there at least 6 times over the years. Best place for certain snow as it’s the highest resort on the mountain, and the night life is brilliant too. One of my favourite skii’s of the day is the slightly tipsy one back down from La Folie Douce.

We had a great resort and a great time. I hadn’t skied in a while so went slow on the first day but later on I was coming down with everyone else. Also the best hot chocolate!

Val Thorens is perfect for skiing in months later in the season. We always go in April time and the snow is perfect. The runs are really good and there’s access to other resorts via ski lifts so you have other runs to discover. And of course La Folie Douce is so much fun!

Such a lovely resort for myself and my husband who are far from professionals! Lots of good blue and green run options.
We stayed at Hotel Tango which was so nice. Great breakfast and really good three course dinner with the half board option.
There are lots of great food places around/on the slopes for lunch too.
It is an expensive resort but it isn’t any different to being at home.
There are loads of great bars and places for apres ski and these aren’t just full of young people either, it is a very varied age range wherever you go.
Would definitely go back again.

Class for skiing as there is loads of slopes. However the food a drink were all very expensive, especially on the mountain so would recommend to bring a packed lunch up.

Make sure to have a look what other activities can do on the first day. The toboggan and zip line was the highlight for our trip. Also the town has weekly market, is worth to visit.

Best ski resort I have ever been too, I board twice a year and since going to VT I would never go anywhere else, easy access to whole of three vallées and overall best resort amongst if you want to stay more local, has everything you could ever need in a resort and beats everywhere else in the world I have been on all aspects. 10/10 would recommend

This was my second ski holiday and it was amazing. I took a refresh lesson on the first day to settle back into it and the instructor was fantastic! So friendly and patience. No issues with the ski lifts and runs. Great places to eat and drink. Honestly just a great place with great people!

Apres was great, easy access to the other valleys, plenty of pistes to explore. Food was expensive and drinks too but worth it for the experience. Good for late season as it’s so high up, you’re guaranteed to have some snow.
