What Skiers Say About Val Thorens

Val Thorens attracts a wide range of skiers and snowboarders, from beginners to experts, with many praising its high altitude for snow reliability throughout the season. The resort is part of the Three Valleys, offering extensive terrain and well-maintained pistes with efficient lifts and minimal queuing. Après-ski is consistently highlighted as lively and energetic, with popular venues like Folie Douce and Bar 360, though some note it caters more to a younger, party-focused crowd. Most accommodation is ski-in/ski-out, and reviewers appreciate the variety of runs, though several mention that food and drinks are expensive. Beginners note limited green runs and that many blues can be challenging or icy, while advanced skiers praise off-piste options and access to neighbouring valleys.

I have VT three times now, and there’s a reason why I always go back. WE GO WITH A GROUP OF 10 PEOPLE ALL OUR 20S, AND FIND THE PERFECT BALANCE BETWEEN GOOD SKI CONDITIONS FOR ALL LEVELS AND ENJOYING FOOD DRINK AND LAUGHS WITH FRIENDS.

FROM THE BOWLING ALLEY TO THE FOLIE DOUCE, to the fancy restaurants and fast food options - they’re really something for everyone at a reasonable cost

The ski conditions are great due to the high altitude and there is a range of options for beginners through two advanced skiers. Also having the option of the trios vallees left pass means no trip as ever the same and it’s also part of the reason we go back. There’s also a lot of activities for nonskiers such as tubing, spas and even a zip line.

I love VT and will continue to get back here with friends, but also family and children

There’re many options for skiiers, even for beginners! Follie deuce is between blue and red, so remember that before you go too high up, that’s steep.

Nice resort connected with Les 3 Vallées. No waiting at chairlifts. Always a new place to discover in les 3 Vallées. You want groomed, off-piste, mogul, etc, you have everything. And also good food and good accommodations. 1 week is not enough!

A fantastic resort with guaranteed snow. The highest of the resorts, there is plenty to do outside of skiing. One of the 3 valleys there are so many slopes to choose from. The lifts are efficient ,accomodation varied, food available for all tastes. What's not to like.

Amazing trip and location for people keen for apres ski. A lot of chalet options for larger groups. Busses work really well. Better for friends rather than families in my opinion. Beginner to intermediate friendly too.

Val thorens as a resort is great and good for all areas as it’s family friendly, however it also has the best nightlife and apres ski.

One thing I would say Is food options are quite limited I’d say I was expecting more, and also it’s definitely more suited towards people who have ski/snowboarded before however if you haven’t then with the right teacher you will be fine :)

Had an amazing time visiting Val Thornes for my first ski holiday abroad. There were endless amounts of runs to explore. The ski in, ski out apartment gave amazing access to the slopes. Plenty of lifts that you didn't have to queue too long for. Lots of restaurants and going out options. Loved being able to ski across the three/four valleys during our week long visit. Epic scenery. Can't wait to revisit one day.

Val Thorens was a magical place to ski - the ski area is huge since it’s tied with a couple others. we went at the beginning of the season so it was quiet as! Loads of choice of places to eat with some budget restaurants if you look for them!

Great skiing even at end of season, good to be able to ski to chatel and les menuires and les orelles even at end of season too. Snowed whilst we were there so snow was really lucky! Apres was fabulous especially at 360. Village has everything you need, albeit not the most picturesque as those in lower altitudes but still fabulous and good nightlife - plenty of bars and clubs. Only ate out once but the food was fantastic. Overall fabulous resort would return.

Heaven for snowboarders! Great parks, good choice of runs, vibrant apres ski, modern lifts and upbeat village. The views are spectacular - some peaks let you see Mount Blanc i full glory. Good connection with nearby resorts if you chose 3 valley ski pass. Price wise I think it is moderately expensive - if you choose more budget accommodation and cook for yourself you won’t break a bank.

Definitely a party place over anything else, no trees so just keep that in mind. Would recommend for size of area alone, with it being connected to many other resorts it’s great for long days of skiing

Such an amazing resort with access to 100s of kilometres of piste (one of largest ski resorts in the world!). The apres vibe is so great, and there are lots of spots both on and off the slopes to continue the party. The lifts are all normally always open and working quickly! Lots of restaurants and cafes too!

Val thorens is a great place for young people but also advanced skiers and families! With accessibility to Meribel for those who want to go further out of the town too. There is a range of accommodation whether you are after a more budget or luxury stay, along with a variety of restaurants and bars to suit your taste. There is an extensive range of runs from beginner level to advanced, with a selection of ski parks too. For beginners this is a great location as there are many ski schools and hire shops available with multiple beginner areas on the slopes too.

Was very good, lifts were great, not too busy. But very expensive and not enough parks. Also not enough cheap places to eat out but that’s ski resorts for you.
