Val d'Isère Review Summary

Val d'Isère attracts predominantly intermediate to expert skiers and snowboarders, with many reviewers noting the extensive ski area (particularly when combined with Tignes) and high-altitude, snow-sure terrain. The resort is consistently praised for its après-ski scene, especially venues like Cocorico and La Folie Douce, and the quality of piste grooming. Beginners report mixed experiences, with some finding suitable runs at altitude but others noting that routes back to the village are red or black, requiring gondola access. Nearly all reviewers mention high prices for accommodation, dining, and lift passes, though most consider the overall experience worthwhile despite the cost.

Did three seasons here and loved it. Skiing is very good for all levels and apres ski is there every night if you want it. Typically expensive though

The Val D’Isere / Tignes ski area is high and large. I go every year on the week before Christmas and it’s always got plenty of snow.
Top tip is to go to Fasty Food for a cheap and delicious bite. The portions are massive and the beers are inexpensive. Plus the owner is a true gem.

Went as a group of 5 adults and 3 kids, the kids had a great time in the ski schools and progressed really well over the week.

The adult skiing/snowboarding was fantastic, loads of places to grab food or a beer during the day.

At night we visited a few of the restaurants and had great food and service.

Would definitely go back again!

Top resort. So much skiing areas to choose from
Including Tignes. High resort so snow sure. Great mountain restaurants and apres ski bars. Lovely town. Good bus service. Only downside is that it’s an expensive resort - but worth it!

Was my first time visiting Val D’Isere after avoiding thinking it was super expensive and not for me but it was amazing! Great options for skiing with Val D’Isere and Tignes both available and loads of restaurants as well for lunch and drinks on the slopes. Loved the restaurants and Apres is a great vibe!

Amazing resort!! Would say that during public holidays it gets very busy, but outside of that it’s generally not too crowded, people are lovely, and if you are looking for a good après, Val d’Isere really is the best option. Snow level was great and weather was luckily more bluebird than not, so sunbathing at lunch was a lovely bonus.
