What Skiers Say About Val d'Isère

Val d'Isère attracts predominantly intermediate to expert skiers and snowboarders, with many reviewers noting the extensive ski area (particularly when combined with Tignes) and high-altitude, snow-sure terrain. The resort is consistently praised for its après-ski scene, especially venues like Cocorico and La Folie Douce, and the quality of piste grooming. Beginners report mixed experiences, with some finding suitable runs at altitude but others noting that routes back to the village are red or black, requiring gondola access. Nearly all reviewers mention high prices for accommodation, dining, and lift passes, though most consider the overall experience worthwhile despite the cost.

I loved my trip, I stayed at ClubMed for 6 days. Spring skiing was really fun in Val d isere; while in the early morning the slopes are a bit firm, the sunlight around 10:30 softens the snow into perfect conditions. There are some really scenic and fun runs and the glacier is very good. Overall I rate it a 8.5/10. I only imagine how much better it would be in the winter.

A great all round resort for families and more advanced skiers alike . You have the opportunity to ski Tignes too . The slopes were quiet ( just before Easter rush) Would recommend a Sunday transfer as the skiing on a Saturday is great as most people are leaving then. Coco Rico highly recommended for a multi generational apres and a great choice of restaurants and cafes .

Val disere has so much terrain. Conditions were fantastic when we were there, it was sunny every day for six days. Would recommend this location to any advanced skier.

Great resort for avid skiers and snowboarders. We really enjoyed the resort, good snow quality, varied runs, huge amount of terrain. We will very likely return. Some areas get quite busy during peak hours and weeks but there is plenty of runs on the outskirts that are much quieter. Everywhere is easily accessible, even if you end up in a different part of the resort at the end of the day, you can get the free bus back to your village. Great selection of eateries, would recommend booking in advance for Wednesday evenings.

Always a gorgeous village. Shops and cafes are great. Bars and restaurants great for all ages. On piste restaurants are also brilliant - can be pricy but it’s a ski holiday!

Had a fab 4 days out in Val d’Isere! Great food and a smashing apres scene. Foile Douce and Cocoricos were our favourites. We had fresh powder on day 3 which was fantastic and I really enjoyed the ski from Val d’Isere to Foile. Lovely set of green and blue runs. The only drawback was the prices of some things, particularly water and soft drinks. £5 for a bottle of water seemed excessive… other than this, 10/10 experience. The hotel was nice and the breakfast was yummy!

I had the best time doing my ski season there, I stayed in La Daille which is only a 10 minute bus ride from the main town and has lifts going straight up the mountain. Val is truly one of the best skiing experiences ever with amazing apres, great restaurants and of course excellent skiing. My favourite bars were cocos, blue note and bananas (although I'm not sure the last is open). The skiing is great as you can ski in 3 different ski areas.

This place was BEAUTIFUL! The scenery was immaculate. Only thing I would say is they do need to expand ! We stayed for a week and near the end we were repeatedly going down the same slopes as there wasn’t much variety. Would love a ski park that would be sick. Other than that it is a bit pricey for the location but a lot of people with money go there so that makes sense

Great choice of runs and off piste options, big ski area which can accommodate all types of snow. Lifts were efficient, we hardly queued at all in mid March. Lovely traditional town with fun apres

Lots of great options for beginner skiers and boarders, or those wanting to progress to intermediate. Massive ski area for established skiers and advanced skiers. Great apres options and lift network to connect more novice riders to bars and restaurants on the slopes

Loved Val d’Isere. It was my first time skiing, and I had great beginner lessons and excellent snow quality. The lifts worked well, and I could go quite a long way just on greens and blues.

Super large resort including Tignes, you're spoilt for choice for groomed runs. Options for off piste everywhere but going with a rider used to the resort would help. No tree runs about, and any trees around you'll be looking for branches whipping you! Definitely a skiers resort but snowboarders won't be left behind. Great apres dotted about, both afternoon and evening. Alot of ski in ski out accommodation. Lively mountain with a variety of food and drink options that can get a little busy but overall good fun.

Skiing was excellent. Lots of runs, lots of snow and lots of off piste options for those who dare. Could do with more apres ski places as they get incredibly busy/there's no room if you end up going too late. We didn't have the best luck with food but we wouldn't let that stop us, we maybe just went to the wrong places (even though we did go to highly rated/recommended places)
