I loved the resort and all it has to offer. Nightlife was so fun and the skiing was even better. Would definitely go again and again. I think I’m sad that I’m not there right now.

I visited val d'isere ski resort from january 25th to february 1st 2026 with 9 others where we stayed in a catered chalet. The snow conditions on that particular week were outstanding as we had snow most nights meaning the next morning had amazing powder both on the slopes and off the slopes. There was tonnes of powder off piste so getting out early was amazing to get the fresh snow. I had 2 friends who had ski school lessons for half of the week and loved the instructor and said he helped them improve a lot more this year. the Apres ski on offer in val disere is really good we loved Coco Ricos and we were in their most nights for both the live band and the dj afterwards. in terms of eating out in val disere there are many many options including a large range of restaurants in the main town ranging from well priced to luxury restaurants. On the mountain there's also a good range which can be reached on skis or through getting a pedestrian pass such as eating at La Folie Douce or restaurants up the Solaise lift. Overall, i think val disere is the perfect location for a ski holiday for both keen skiers and people who may not ski a lot either as there are plenty of options to keep you occupied on the slopes and a vast range of ski area on the slopes.

Lovely very large resort with a lot of very wonderful top end restaurants (often bookings needed in advance). Lifts busy at peak times and runs very busy during school holidays as full of ski schools.

Even though there hadn’t been any snow in 2 weeks the pistes were still stunning! The apres is always good and we were very lucky with the weather it was lush.

Val is truly one of the great ski resorts! The Espace Killy will keep intermediate and advanced skiers busy for weeks, with lots of high, wide snow sure slopes. The off piste is great if you have a guide, though it can be hard to get fresh tracks with lots of advanced riders hitting the terrain.

I visited with my beginner husband, and the slopes are surprisingly good for beginners too, particularly the greens on the Bellevarde side of the resort. Though the official run gradings should be viewed with caution - the greens/blues down to resort are tricky for a true beginner.

The resort itself is pretty and fairly quaint for a large French resort (and definitely compared to neighbouring Tignes). The apres is great fun, including Folie and some fun bars at the bottom of the slopes. Accommodation, food and drinks can be pricey though, although there are more affordable options.

Overall it’s definitely a must visit resort!

I've skied in Val d'isere/Tignes on eight occasions and it never disappoints. Even as late as the end of April all runs were kept open back to the village.

We (party of 10 7 adults and 3 children) had a brilliant time at Val D’Isere at the beginning of January 2026. Pistes were beautifully maintained, the quality of the piste grooming was excellent. I feel like the lifts could have been improved by adding some bubbles to the chairlifts (it got really cold on windy days without them).
It snowed an incredible amount and the amount of tractors/ diggers/ ploughs out clearing the roads and footpaths was really impressive.
Excellent dining options and delicious food. Stunning town centre with beautiful twinkly lights.
Would return in a heartbeat.

Have visited Valdisere most years on family ski holidays as both a teenager with family/friends an as a couple into late 20s. The resort has something for everyone be it groomed well connected easy blues to great off piste if conditions allow. The lift pass access allowing both Valdisere and Tignes means you could ski all week and not cover everything,

Food options offer a wide variety be it those on a budget wanting a quick bite (would recommend “la Garage” for good sports bar vibe pizzas) to fine dining such as “refuge” at the top of solaise lift.

Apres is also 10/10, if the famous folle douce is your vibe for overpriced drinks and glitz and glam to get that instagram story then great! But for more down to earth good vibes then Cocoricos in the centre is perfect at the end of the day or for indoors La Petite Denois is fantastic for classic feel good happy house apres with daily bands or into late night DJ set.

Finally accommodation has something to offer for all, a bit more on the pricy side vs other resorts but still some great deals to be had along with a lot of major UK chalet & hotel operators still having places. Or for those after luxury there’s a lot on offer if you’ve the money to splash!

Overall my favourite resort for all sorts of reasons.

A great resort with a massive ski area connecting to Tignes. Amazing infrastructure on the mountains including funiculars and an enormous gondola that reaches 3456m. Long well groomed green, blue and red pistes as well as challenging black runs such as La Sache. Good Apres Ski in Cocorico bar or later at the Black Sheep. Snow sure conditions.

Val d’Isère is a great place for skiing and snowboarding. The mountains are beautiful and the snow is usually very good. There are many slopes for beginners and advanced skiers. The lifts are fast and easy to use. The village is lively, with nice restaurants and shops. It can be a bit expensive and busy in peak season, but the experience is worth it. I really enjoyed skiing here and would like to come back again.

Val d'Isere and the connecting ski areas or Le Fornet and La Daille are popular for good reason - the runs are plentiful and varied, the lifts and largely modern and efficient and the skiing is well linked. Coupled with this there is of course easy access to Tignes, another large ski area in its own right. There is skiing for all abilities and it's big enough it doesn't feel congested.

The town hasn't changed much - the buses still do a great job of moving skiers up and down the valley whilst there are plentiful shopping and eating options so suit most budgets. It is not, nor does it try to be a 'cheap' resort, it doesn't need to be. That being said you don't have to break the bank to ski there - just make wise choices about food & drink and where you stay.

All in all it's one that everyone should ski at least once in their lives and for those who go back regularly they will tell you it has enough to keep you entertained for years!

Great ski resort! Would recommend especially end of season when there are less skiers. The general ski level is quite good.
