Val d'Isère Review Summary

Val d'Isère attracts predominantly intermediate to expert skiers and snowboarders, with many reviewers noting the extensive ski area (particularly when combined with Tignes) and high-altitude, snow-sure terrain. The resort is consistently praised for its après-ski scene, especially venues like Cocorico and La Folie Douce, and the quality of piste grooming. Beginners report mixed experiences, with some finding suitable runs at altitude but others noting that routes back to the village are red or black, requiring gondola access. Nearly all reviewers mention high prices for accommodation, dining, and lift passes, though most consider the overall experience worthwhile despite the cost.

Second time skiing and staying in Val D’Isère, despite the lack of snow through out December the runs was well groomed and majority of the resort (Val/tignes) was open with runs getting slightly icy towards the back end of the day

I'd deffinatley return however its expensive so I'd probably do Andorra or Bulgaria for a couple of years in between. The skiing is second to none. I skied every day all day for a week and there were still runs in the area I hadn't been down. AMAZING.

An overall brilliant stay at this resort, thoroughly enjoyed my time and it was a great fit for the skiing level of me and my group. Our accommodation was nice and great value for ski in ski out. There’s so much to do and all activities are easily accessible by bus.

The Restaurants can be expensive but the local supermarket has a really wide range of stock for cooking at home too.

The lifts are amazingly efficient and easy to use, and pistes are in top condition.

An excellent place to go skiing! Modern lifts, good Apres and a great vibe.

This resort as a whole is rather pricey but you get what you pay for. There are limited tree lined runs compared to other resorts such as Les Arcs but the pistes are very well maintained and everyone is friendly and helpful.

There's always room for improvements but Val D'Isere is a brilliant resort!

Skied in Val a few times from Tignes but been a few years since I’ve stayed there.
It used to have a reputation for rich gap year kids spending daddy’s money, but that’s no longer the case. Quite a few of the party bars and clubs have closed down, and now replaced with more traditional bars.
Restaurant-wise in the village there’s a huge range from excellent burger joints to Michelin stared restaurants depending on your budget.
It’s not the cheapest of resorts, but the quality and high-end feel of most establishments feels justified.
The resort slopes to the village can be a little confusing to get around and does involve getting the free ski bus shuttle frequently when you end up back in the village, but not quite where you need to be.
Our accommodation was excellent, and we did visit a few of the high-end hotels, bars and restaurants on our trip. We even saw a rock-star celebrity.
I would definitely stay in Val again - plenty to do in an evening and still has a party vibe, but not just rich kids anymore.

Val is simply the best resort there is. For families go in April, snow coverage is still good, it’s warmer and much quieter.

Did a season here December 21 - April 22.

One of the best resorts I’ve skiied in, suitable for all levels, lots of advanced runs, and huge amount of ski areas to choose from. Apres ski is really fun with lots of options. Gets extremely busy in school holidays. Super high so almost guaranteed snow
