Val d'Isère Review Summary

Val d'Isère attracts predominantly intermediate to expert skiers and snowboarders, with many reviewers noting the extensive ski area (particularly when combined with Tignes) and high-altitude, snow-sure terrain. The resort is consistently praised for its après-ski scene, especially venues like Cocorico and La Folie Douce, and the quality of piste grooming. Beginners report mixed experiences, with some finding suitable runs at altitude but others noting that routes back to the village are red or black, requiring gondola access. Nearly all reviewers mention high prices for accommodation, dining, and lift passes, though most consider the overall experience worthwhile despite the cost.

The greatest ski resort in Europe!
You will try other resorts but always refer back to Val D’Isere as being the best.

Had a great time in Val, bigger town with plenty of food options and bars. Folie is a bit of a difficult ski back but gondola options available to help. Coco ricos I think is the best apres bar there is, highly recommend! So much so we went back to Tignes in March

The best resort for incredible skiing, challenging slopes, huge range of skiing and incredible apres. Nothing beats a cocorico afternoon/evening. I have been to so many ski resorts in different countries and there is nothing quite like it. Skiing over in tignes is brilliant too. Food is amazing. Brilliant resort, but not cheap.

I did a season here and have proceeded to go and visit since. It is a lively resort with something for everyone. If you are a non-skier then there are plenty of spa options as well as pedestrian lifts so you can join your group on the slopes for a bite to eat.

The slopes are more on the advanced side and new beginners may struggle. The green slopes tend to be really busy which can make it hard to learn.

The ski area is massive and is perfect for a week. The views are incredible at the glaciers and both resorts are situated high up making it perfect and snow sure.

A fantastic ski resort that offers something for everybody. The ski lift is well located and easily accessed with a stunning black run heading straight into the ski village for on watches to see. The bars and restaurants are second to none and I couldn’t recommend this resort more to anyone.

Val D just has everything. It’s a little more pricey than other places, but not without reason. It has plenty of great skiing at all levels, some great powder when it’s snowed and some fantastic bars restaurants and apres. We love it there and go every few years. It would probably be up there if you could only pick one resort forever!

Only there for a long weekend with some friends but now booked to go back to the resort with my family to explore the resort better! Fantastic skiing although very early in the season some runs had not opened yet but still so much area to try and cover I didn’t even see half of it! Great bars on the piste and the food was insane!! Absolutely loved it and that’s why we are going back next month to tignes to explore the rest with my wife and children, we are all looking forward to it so much! Going to get to the Folie Douce this time too for a great end to the holiday! Possibly the green runs ought to be blues just incase you are a beginner as my friends were and when I took them to the greens they struggled on the steep areas. As an advanced skiing family we are buzzing for it ⛷️
