Méribel Review Summary

Méribel attracts predominantly intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, many travelling in mixed-ability groups or families. The resort is consistently praised for its central location in the Three Valleys, offering efficient access to Courchevel and Val Thorens via well-maintained lift infrastructure. Reviewers repeatedly mention the extensive ski area, good piste grooming, and lively après-ski scene, particularly at Rond Point and La Folie Douce. However, the high cost of accommodation, food, and drinks is a frequent complaint, with many noting that Méribel is significantly more expensive than resorts in Austria or Italy. Lift queues can be an issue during peak periods, particularly on lower lifts, though most report they move relatively quickly. A few snowboarders mention flat connecting runs as problematic.

Good skiing can easily be found. The best, for us, was in Les Minuires (a neighbouring resort). The snow was excellent there and it was much quieter. It should be noted that the easy runs in Meribel itself were chaotic at peak times with out of control skiers that were not considerate of the learner skiers on those runs. The beginner slopes were not ideal for beginners as they did not have the better snow that we found elsewhere. There are better and probably cheaper places for beginners and advanced skiers in the Three Valleys.

Huge ski area in the 3 valleys. Some areas busier than others. A lot of beginners nearer the resorts, but great boarding and skiing all round from long cruisy blues to steep technical blacks.

The location of meribel being smack bang in the middle of the 3 valleys is its best feature. You have a huge ski area to chose from with the wide open blues in courchevel being our favourite.

Three peaks were brilliant. It was my first time snowboarding.Meribel was my favourite and Val Thorens was also very fun to do. Lots of good blue runs which is where I was predominantly sitting along with a few red runs.We went at Christmas and we got very lucky with fresh powder. We even got some runs down to where we were staying near Brides Les Baines.

I've been to Meribel once and there is just so much there. So many runs, loads of lovely blues, great ones to build confidence and ability. Sometimes it gets a bit busy but there is so much space you can always just find somewhere else.Lots of accomodation options for different prices and so many food choices.

Amazing skiing, huge ski area with a great variety of runs for all levels, especially if you go for the 3 valleys lift pass (the blue run into Saint Martin is one of the nicest Ive ever done). Apres is incredible with big parties and live music at Folie and Le Rond Point every day we were there. If youre going with beginners, the runs down from apres into the town can get quite icy, but very easy to get public transport down (either gondola for folie or bus for Rond Point) which means they can still get involved. Great resort and we were surprised by how quiet it was, even with fantastic weather for the 5 days we were there - would definitely go back in January again!

Situated in the three valley ski area so there are endless amounts of runs for all abilities! Lots of great options for accommodation and meals out with bars for apres. Can get quite busy during school holidays so best to avoid going during those periods.

I did a ski season in Meribel and have since been back a couple of times with friends. Absolutely love this resort. It has everything you could want: great skiing, delicious restaurants, fun apres (with both a Folie Douce and a fab mountain ski bar called The Ronnie!) Great for all ages. Also if you dont went to ski one day, it has a number of different activities to chose from, from bowling to ice skating, sledging to spa!

Our party of 5 stayed in Meribel centre. Plenty of accommodation options although many were a bit pricey. We managed to find a budget hotel option with some compromise on space/comfort but it was in the perfect location. Within easy walking distance of the lifts, supermarkets, bars and restaurants. Plenty of lively Apres ski and evening events. Its a charming town with a traditional alpine vibe. We had a 3 valleys pass so plenty of well groomed pistes for us to use in both Meribel and the rest of the valleys. Lifts were quick and efficient. Overall a great resort with easy access to lifts and to the rest of the 3 valleys.

Meribel remains one of my favourite resorts due to the unreal skiing and easy access to the Courchevel and Val Thorens. There are several great lunch spots with incredible views and a huge variety of food. The best part about staying in Meribel is the apres par Rhond Point - great vibes, live music and sunset views over the mountains. Once youve skied down, you finish up the day in Meribel town for more live music at Jacks. Whenever we try a new resort, we just end up missing Meribel! We cant wait to go back again next year.
