What Skiers Say About Megève

Megève attracts a mix of intermediate and advanced skiers, with many families and repeat visitors noting its wide, well-groomed runs and tree-lined slopes. The resort is consistently described as beautiful and expensive, with high-quality but pricey restaurants both on and off the mountain. Snow coverage is a recurring concern due to the lower altitude, particularly later in the season and on lower slopes, though grooming and snowmaking are praised. Lift infrastructure is mixed, with some older, slower lifts and minimal queuing outside French holidays. Après-ski is limited compared to larger French resorts, though La Folie Douce is frequently mentioned. The village is charming but caters to a luxury clientele, affecting overall costs.

Simply too expensive but very large ski area offering lots of variety. Apres ski a bit limited and some odd door policies!

Nice ski town, easy transfer from Geneva. Shame we had poor snow, but having been to the area before, I know it is a nice area. Not a big Apre scene, but a few good restaurants and bars. Good selection of runs for all abilities and some easily accessible off piste areas.

Good size resort with lots of different runs. Be prepared to take plenty of button lifts as they seem to be the most common. The apres is okay but not many options. The town is lovely but expensive, but that is widely known.

Very pretty resort with access to the entire Mont Blanc ski area
Pricy town centre if you want to eat out but head out of the Main roads there are some more affordable and great restaurants.
Ski wise the resort is low so snow on the lower slopes can be sparse. Beautiful trails through the trees and stunning views of Mont Blanc and the surrounding areas.

Very big ski area with generally good connections to everywhere on the ski pass, the groomed runs are lovely for skiing and never overly crowded which means they dont get too skid off during the day. Plenty of opportunity for a variety of very fun off piste skiing, from lift lines to open fields to plenty of tree lines, megeve and the surrounding ski areas has it all! Very pretty town, lots of shops and cute little cafes, however, it is a little expensive in the shops as they are tailored to a more luxury clientele base. Despite this, you can definitely get away with spending a week here on a small budget. Much quieter ski area than other resorts in France as not well known by foreign tourists, especially Brits. However, this does mean there is a little less going on especially in the apres scene compared to places such as tignes or Avoriaz. Despite this, there are still plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants in megeve and some very nice snack bars to ski to on the mountain (radaz chips and meal deal over at cote 2000, for example).
