What Skiers Say About Megève

Megève attracts a mix of intermediate and advanced skiers, with many families and repeat visitors noting its wide, well-groomed runs and tree-lined slopes. The resort is consistently described as beautiful and expensive, with high-quality but pricey restaurants both on and off the mountain. Snow coverage is a recurring concern due to the lower altitude, particularly later in the season and on lower slopes, though grooming and snowmaking are praised. Lift infrastructure is mixed, with some older, slower lifts and minimal queuing outside French holidays. Après-ski is limited compared to larger French resorts, though La Folie Douce is frequently mentioned. The village is charming but caters to a luxury clientele, affecting overall costs.

Great after-ski and slopes. Went with friends, that were all different levels of skiing. And that worked perfectly! Good food and everyone was so friendly. Lovely shops and environment. Can highly recommend.

Megeve is a lower resort! It has the most beautiful village with so many fabulous restaurants on and off piste! Super easy to get to from Geneva! Close to Chamonix. It’s quite bougie! I remember years ago reading it’s popular with Parisians and residents of Monaco! Also popular with middle eastern visitors! Highly recommend this beautiful resort with a fascinating history!

Very pretty with lots to do. The skiing area is decent but you might get bored if there longer than a week. I will definitely return, everyone was friendly and lots of homeowners returning every year. It is a bit fancy, but I like that.

Megève is an absolutely beautiful resort with stunning runs and a gorgeous village atmosphere. The skiing is fantastic, with well-groomed slopes and scenic views that make every run a pleasure. The village itself is charming and lively, full of character and alpine elegance.

Food and drinks are definitely on the more expensive side, but that’s to be expected in a resort like this and honestly, it’s worth it for the quality and experience. Overall, Megève offers a perfect mix of great skiing, luxury, and charm. I loved it and would happily return.

I lived in Megeve for 3 months and was surprised that spring skiing is not bad at all so feel free to go a little later in the season when everything is getting cheaper and you’ll still find some great skiing at the top of the mountain. Regarding restaurants in the mountain I would only really recommend la foile deux so you can party at the mountai. Other than that most mountain side restaurants are very expensive. Finally If cost doesn’t affect you then the best ski in skii out hotel will be the Four Seasons

Brilliant family friendly resort. Quiet slopes if you go out of french term time. Amazing variety of restaurants both on and off the slopes and plenty of other things to do off the slopes as well. Great range of slopes and off piste skiing.

We had a lovely week in Megeve in January. The town is beautiful and there are so many lovely bars and restaurants, but a lot are very expensive! The slopes were lovely and quiet with no ques for lifts the week we visited. We struggled to get our children in for ski school as we didn’t pre book, so I would definitely recommend to pre book any lessons if you need them.

Had a really lovely time. A great really good food places that were well priced but in need of more midrange options or healthy options. Some of the lifts are older style but not too busy, very few lines

Great resort for beginners and intermediates. End of season has lots of fake and slushy snow especially on piste closer to the village level.
Up the mountains are still good for snow.

Two sides to this resort, quite smaller side of Le Jaillet skied by the Genevois. Lots of trees and if you know the mountain we'll, some great mid level off piste.Other side of the mountain is accessible from the village centre lifts and a car park up one of two mountains: Rochbrine and Mont d'Arbois. Most of this is owned by the Rothschilds. French old guard and weekenders from International community /Geneva. Much busier slopes, but better connected and some good off piste at 2000.Food here is amazing, but so are prices. Book for lunch and find the spots where the ski guides /ESF eat for best value

Megeve is a beautiful resort with a great ski area. Its not high but the location usually means its snow coverage is pretty good. Plus they do a fantastic job of maintaining the slopes. The ski area works pretty well for groups and families as its all well connected and has slopes suitable for all abilities. Beer and food is a little pricey but there is a great selection of mountain restaurants if you know wheee to look. Lifts could do with updating and during peak times in the season can cause queues. Not far from the airport so makes a great indulgent weekend as well as a top place for the week. Having visited a LOT of times Ill still be going back.

Great resort for intermediate skiers and boarders but not loads of black runs or off piste. In term of the town, the resort is just too expensive for drinking and there is a complete lack of fun apres - other than folie deuce up the mountain, but its a fairly long way to ski back down to town, and wasnt very busy when we went.Good place for a couple of well priced drinks is the tabac.Few ok bars in town but all very expensive - 15-16 for a large beer generally.

Recently returned from Megève with my children and my friend and his family. Stopped outside the town but the busses were efficient although not very regular. The town is beautiful and relaxed. The ski area is great for families and beginners to intermediate. We had perfect weather but the mountains arent the highest so could suffer at warmer, less snowy times.

Very beautiful resort and very family friendly. Easy to access lifts from local Airbnbs and not too busy. Some lifts a little slow and old but its an amazing experience there nevertheless. Would suggest this holiday to anyone looking for a nice family resort.
