What Skiers Say About Avoriaz

Avoriaz attracts a wide range of abilities, from beginners to experts, with many families and groups visiting. Reviewers consistently mention the ski-in/ski-out convenience, car-free village with horse-drawn transport, and access to the large Portes du Soleil area including Switzerland. Snow conditions are generally described as reliable due to altitude, though lower runs can become slushy or icy in afternoons. The après-ski scene, particularly La Folie Douce, is frequently praised. Accommodation is often noted as expensive or basic, and lift queues can be significant during UK and French school holidays.

Great resort, hard to beat for ski in ski out. Huge ski area including skiing into Switzerland. Family friendly but also great for young groups. Plenty of Après and many great restaurants. Huge choice of accommodation and easy transfer from Geneva.

Always love Avoriaz when I visit. Has been one resort I’ve returned to a few times. Love the pedestrianised lifestyle of snowcats and horse and cart.

The food options are great, there’s a huge range of options but you can not beat Globetrotters for a lunch time burger after a few runs on the slopes. And finis the week with a sharing steak at Le Roc.

Mid week dip at Aquoriaz after a few days on the slopes to rest those achy muscles and watch the sunset over the mountains from the outdoor hot tub. Honestly it’s one of the most convenient resorts for how accessible to is. But also how many things there are to do aside from skiing and boarding.

Meet the beautyful resident doggo, Rocko who is always near the carousel but the food stand and play some fetch with him, he loved a snowball ❤️

Beautiful resort! Nice restaurants, hotels, and nightlife. Folie is close to town so don’t have to worry about having to ski down for too long. Plan your accommodation well as your only transfer options are snow cats and horse carriages.

28 of us stayed here December through to new year. The ages were from 0-66 with non Skiers - experienced skiers. There is something for everyone. You actually don’t have to ski its completely pedestrianised but also lots of challenging slopes for the ones who like it. Plenty of greens too. We went over to Morzine a few times and there are some lovely runs over there.

The massive ports du solei ski area takes Avoriaz to the next level also being able to ski over the boarder into Switzerland for the ultimate ski package of Swiss skiing at France prices. It’s situated at 1800m meaning it’s pretty snow sure. We’ve been a 3 times now and never had a problem with snow in a Avoriaz. It’s also easy to go much higher up with only 2-3 lifts. Igloo bar on the slopes is also awesome. La foli Duce also within walking distance of town for mega spares.

Ski-in/Ski-out pedestrian village high up in the French mountains right next to Switzerland. Great height at over 1800m going up to 2300m. Family friendly, horse drawn carts, great apres ski! Been as a family and with friends and both times have been fabulous. Highly recommend.

Great resort with nice runs and speed. Accomodation was good for 5 people at Sepia. Was very busy though and not very many places to eat.

Good quirky resort.
One snowpark was not open, but the one from La Chapelle is great. I wish there were more order rather than people randomly somewhat queuing, whose direction is unknown, as you could have about 3 to 4 different lines.

Slopes were very busy, and narrow. Too much traffic for my liking.
I really enjoyed the snowparks, but you have some people that can barely ski and end up polluting the site, and being dangerous to others.

Incredible resort which is practically ski-in ski-out wherever you go. Visited with a group of 9 friends and we had the best week ever. Accommodation was great, we had two huge interlinking apartments with a gorgeous view. Skiing is fantastic, something for everyone of all levels and you can’t beat apres at follie!

This was my first experience. I didn’t know what I was expecting. The place is so magical and beautiful. I stayed in a skiing and ski out apartment everything at the doorstep and I can’t wait to go back.

Great ski in ski out. Decent bars and a follie douce in the resort. Great skiing connections to Switzerland for long runs. Close to Geneva airport but still bad traffic at rush hour from the airport.
