What Skiers Say About Avoriaz

Avoriaz attracts a wide range of abilities, from beginners to experts, with many families and groups visiting. Reviewers consistently mention the ski-in/ski-out convenience, car-free village with horse-drawn transport, and access to the large Portes du Soleil area including Switzerland. Snow conditions are generally described as reliable due to altitude, though lower runs can become slushy or icy in afternoons. The après-ski scene, particularly La Folie Douce, is frequently praised. Accommodation is often noted as expensive or basic, and lift queues can be significant during UK and French school holidays.

Great slopes for snow and if earlier then they’re pretty quiet. Good number of bars and food options are fairly decent too. Amazing views!

The ski-in ski-out is awesome.

This ski resort is angled towards experienced skiers, as the blue runs are more difficult and there are only a small amount of green, which are quite short. (Perfect for children learning though) we stayed at a great hotel, family friendly, all inclusive, spa and pool and we could ski right out of the door! I’ve been to three ski resorts in France and this is my second favourite.

Avoriaz is a great resort with tonnes to do it’s beautiful and so picturesque. Town is relatively small for the amount of poeple but plenty of options.

Pretty much everything is ski in ski out we stayed in a chalet next to folle douche and thought it would be metally loud, wasn’t at all it was heaps of fun.

Had a sick trip to Avoriaz. The ski-in/ski-out setup makes everything easy — straight on the slopes from the door. Snow was solid the whole time and loads of runs to explore with the whole Portes du Soleil area.

Perfect for snowboarding, lots of wide runs and side hits, but a few flat bits here and there. Can get busy, but overall the vibe is good and everything’s close.

Not the most hardcore resort if you’re advanced, but for a fun trip with good conditions and convenience, it’s spot on.

We went to Avoriaz as a family of 4 with 3 other families this season and loved it. When you arrive it is very quaint with a horse drawn carriage to your accommodation.
The pistes and range of skiing for all abilities was fantastic.
The lift queues could be long at certain times and places but it was February half term so to be expected.
Would love to go back!

Morzine and Avoriaz were amazing for all ranges of skiers. I had lessons in Les gets every morning and then joined my friends in avoriaz for the afternoon. There was a big range of slopes and we even crossed over in to Switzerland. The ski pass price was reasonable compared to other resorts and both Morzine and avoriaz were lovely towns with lots to do.

This was my first time skiing! It was so fun. I had a private lesson on my first day and became more confident throughout the trip (and falling over less and less). Night life was very lively if you wanted it to be but plenty of restaurants to have dinner at and head back to your apartment. I had the best time and would definitely ski again!

Avoriaz is the gateway to the whole of the portes du soleil so make sure you get the full PDS pass and go explore!

Lexpress has fab apres by the lifts and folie douce has amazing aerial shows in the afternoon.

If you're learning head to the blue Zore slope where its super easy wide open blues with a baby park in the trees and a few cafes/bars at the bottom for much needed rest/drinks.

I love to go in March the weather is always amazing and the base is still great to ride on!

Visited with a group of 12 ages 20-22 during the Snowboxx festival, some never skied before others experienced. The slopes allowed the lads to learn quick and easy needing just one lesson. All in all great holiday

We had the most amazing trip to Avoriaz. It was our first time skiing, so we booked a ski coach called Paddy to join me and my friend and he completely made the experience. He was patient, encouraging and made us feel confident from the very start. As total beginners that made such a difference and turned what could have been quite daunting into something really enjoyable.

We stayed in the Amara Apartments, which were outstanding. The boot room setup was brilliant and being able to ski right up to the building was such a bonus. Everything felt really well organised and comfortable. Our ski hire too was just over the road and effortless..

One of the things we loved most about Avoriaz was the fact there are no cars in the resort. But there is the option of horse and cart which obviously is so lovely!

It was also so much fun being able to ski or board straight through the village, The whole resort feels very lively and easy to navigate.

We actually went without our children this time but we were gutted once we realised how incredible the facilities are for families. There is so much for kids to do and the resort is clearly designed with families in mind. We are definitely wanting to come back next time with our three children.

Such a fantastic resort, especially for beginners and families. We will definitely be back!

Our first experience of Avoriaz was great, particularly given that it is a high elevation resort and snow conditions were pretty bad in lower resorts at the time. We loved spending time in the stash snow park and skiing down to Chatel. The resort is positioned over 3 countries, so we skied into Switzerland for the day and had the most amazing truffle fondue. We stayed in morzine and there was lots to do down there and the bus to the gondola was pretty efficient.

I visited during Snowboxx 2 years in a row. It’s my favourite place to ski, super friendly locals. Amazing restaurants. Easy access to everywhere the elevators and horse and carts saved my life. The runs were super nice, I am a good skier and the reds were really enjoyable. I am partial to a nice easy green or blue I can cruise on too. Perfect for all levels. Apres is perfect, some brilliant memories made. Loved our accomodation too in a lovely cosy apartment (atria). 10/10
