What Skiers Say About Avoriaz

Avoriaz attracts a wide range of abilities, from beginners to experts, with many families and groups visiting. Reviewers consistently mention the ski-in/ski-out convenience, car-free village with horse-drawn transport, and access to the large Portes du Soleil area including Switzerland. Snow conditions are generally described as reliable due to altitude, though lower runs can become slushy or icy in afternoons. The après-ski scene, particularly La Folie Douce, is frequently praised. Accommodation is often noted as expensive or basic, and lift queues can be significant during UK and French school holidays.

Very good for beginners apart from getting back to the apartment the slopes were too busy and too steep. The atmosphere in town was amazing and the food out was good.

We were completely blown away with Avoriaz. Everything was so easy and accessible. It was our first family ski trip with our children, 4 and 10 years old. The accommodation was ski in ski out as as most, the choice of restaurants and bars - just perfect. We loved seeing the horses go past and evenings sledging and building snowman’s after a few hours of partying fun at Foliedouche. What more could you ask for! We will be back!!

The resort is banging! Great hub with decent bars, loads of decent runs. Reasonable transfer time. No cars in the resort which is nice, loads of ski in/ski out options.

Avoriaz is one for the books. A very hard resort to complete only managed to do 50 runs in 5 days. Definitely loved the Swiss side and I think having access to port de soleil as an option when you go is worth your money.

Been going there many years. There is a variety of runs for all ages and is very easy to travel around. The huge resort means you can ski for long periods and constantly be in different areas of portes du solei. Most lifts are really efficient apart from tour at the bottom of avoriaz but they have introduced a single rider line that does work. Unfortunately you cannot avoid the lift but there is one smaller chair the other side of avoriaz that is more quiet if you can use it. So many good food options from self service in linderets to nicer restaurants and more importantly the apres in avoriaz is great. It’s all very centralised meaning it’s very easy to get to it / get home (might not even have to ski depending on your apartments). The transfer is really easy from Geneva / lots of parking for avoriaz village. It’s very pretty and have beautiful horses within the village. There’s a swimming pool if you wanted to change it up / not ski every day but still have apres a walk away. The one big downside is the main piece to avoriaz can be very crowded and not have good snow. This is because you have a range of abilities skiing + people and it can be chaos but it’s manageable. At the top of avoriaz although you can either compete (I watch) people doing massive amazing jumps and flips which is a great place to eat your lunch if it’s packed with seats etc.

Have skid for many years now. Went with a big group and it didn’t disappoint. From complete beginner to expert level there’s slopes for all and the nightlife with girlie spice is crazy. Can’t wait to go there again and again

The resort offers the perfect lift system connecting efficiently the whole resort and links to Morzine. Will high altitude it offers great views and holds good snow conditions in warmer weather. Unique and welcome sight, the horse drawn sledges, improving safety and eco friendly and traditional feel. After visiting many ski resorts over the years I was pleasantly surprised from a less historic resorts like Courchevel. I would definitely visit again.

If you want clear runs get up at the crack of dawn and make your way over towards the Swiss border, stunning runs and the masses won’t go over that far so you’ll get some really nice skiing done before the snow gets eaten up.

Amazing resort. Can ski pretty much everywhere within village. Snow there even when Morzine didn't have much. Had a big dump of snow despite time in season. Excellent tree runs on and off piste. Family friendly, but can party if you want to as well! Loads to explore.

The most perfect of resorts. Ski in and out. Great for groups of mixed ability as there are lots of runs that meet at the same point so half can do a blue, some a red or black. The resort has lots of places to eat and it’s reasonably priced. Also if self catering three supermarkets and you can buy ready made fresh french food that’s restaurant quality. I’ve skied in lots of places this is the best by far.

I go skiing here every year and I wouldn’t change where I ski. The area is so big you can ski for miles. Great food places where you can eat pizzas and burgers or spag Bol. The la folie douce is a great bar/party place where u can dance on the tables and have a great time. I always come to Avoriaz because it’s such a great place to ski or snowboard and they have a great snowpark

Live avoriaz. Been multiple times. Especially with it being carless makes it feel more magical. Great slopes, especially tree runs. Not as wild as some resorts but perfect for us

This is the 4th time we visited avoriaz and we love it. Everything is easily accessible and the resort is car free. There are plenty of options for non skiers (spa, swimming pool, bowling) lots of restaurants and bars as well.
Our kids learnt to ski on these slopes and they have a great time every year.
