Avoriaz Review Summary

Avoriaz attracts a wide range of abilities, from beginners to experts, with many families and groups visiting. Reviewers consistently mention the ski-in/ski-out convenience, car-free village with horse-drawn transport, and access to the large Portes du Soleil area including Switzerland. Snow conditions are generally described as reliable due to altitude, though lower runs can become slushy or icy in afternoons. The après-ski scene, particularly La Folie Douce, is frequently praised. Accommodation is often noted as expensive or basic, and lift queues can be significant during UK and French school holidays.

Avoriaz is a beautiful place to ski and has lovely accommodation options ranging from small affordable rooms for groups on a budget, to luxury 5 star stays for those who want a big week away. Having visited now a few times I would confidently say Avoriaz is my favourite resort both for skiing and evening activities outside of skiing. There are more restaurants than I could possibly count, all of which serve incredibly nice food within reasonable price ranges for the quality of produce used (€15-30 per plate). I would certainly recommend avoriaz for skiers at an intermediate level or above. However for beginners the runs can be somewhat overwhelming as they can get very busy depending on when you visit (Check when Snowboxx is if you don’t want hectic slopes and more frequent lift stoppages). Overall Avoriaz is a busy but beautiful resort that I believe any skier should aim to visit at least once in their life.

Avoriaz gives access to a big area of varied runs. We were there for a week and travelled across to Switzerland for a day, travelled across to Les Gets another and everything in between. Lots of varied runs and obviously the Stash!

We went with my girlfriend and on the first day we both injured our hands lol so was not great but we managed to carry on and on third day it snowed for two heavy days and we couldn’t snowboard for a few days as it was so snowy so we did manage for the last two days, we would love to go back and get a full week of snowboarding this time as I had booked this trip a year in advance for our anniversary and it was ok but not what I had hoped for her as we had a tough year and needed this break with each other

Great 3 days, lucky with a dump of snow. Fairly busy especially in the runs around town, but a huge ski area.

Have been twice now and can’t wait to bring more family and friends to this mountain! As an American living abroad, I can tell you that the experience is so much more affordable and desirable than the typically very high prices paid in the states. Stunning views, delicious food, fantastic accommodations and vast options for skiers and boarders of all skill levels. Highly recommend!

We have been to Avoriaz several times. It's fantastic for our young family, we even bring the dog. Last year we even visited in the summer for the hiking and mountain biking. It's paradise really.

Had the best time! There was something for everyone. I am a beginner and needed somewhere to build my confidence up a nasty fall. My partner and friends were more experienced. We all loved it. I’ll be bringing my 1 daughter next year as there seemed to cater for all ages.

Brilliant, self-contained resort. Ski in, ski out, ski *everywhere*! Huge ski area so you're never bored, high lifts linking to other Portes de Soleil resorts, and great runs down through the trees. Snow parks and play areas - there's something for absolutely everyone.

This is an excellent family friendly resort with plenty to do. It is ski in ski out and if your staying for a week the port du soleil lift pass is very well priced and there are so many slopes to explore. You can also stay local and get an Avoriaz lift pass which will keep cost down if your planning a short stay. There are plenty of family friendly bars and restaurants. It also has a great nightlife if you're wanting to party long into the night.
Not only does Avoriaz have great skiing and boarding there are plenty of other thing to do, such as ice shaking for the kids, there's a lovely public swimming pool with outdoor jacuzzi, there is also bowling and a cinema. Definitely worth a trip.

I love Avoriaz, been many times, it’s my happy place, one of its unique qualities is the fact when you are in the resort there are no cars, you arrive at your hotel by horse drawn carriage, or snow cat, which makes being in this place feel truly magical. It is also ski in ski out and the village is very accessible by foot. The great blue runs that are on offer really appeal to me and the fact the resort is high normally means the snow is good, or at least skiable. I love the folie Douce for aprés and the restaurants are varied and great. I would definetly recommend this resort
