What Skiers Say About Avoriaz

Avoriaz attracts a wide range of abilities, from beginners to experts, with many families and groups visiting. Reviewers consistently mention the ski-in/ski-out convenience, car-free village with horse-drawn transport, and access to the large Portes du Soleil area including Switzerland. Snow conditions are generally described as reliable due to altitude, though lower runs can become slushy or icy in afternoons. The après-ski scene, particularly La Folie Douce, is frequently praised. Skiing in Avoriaz is wonderful for all abilities, we stayed in the resort and loved the ski in and out. It made it easier and quicker to get more skiing time in. We love the car free and the fact that it’s high up there is so much snow. The pistes are easily marked so you can easily find your way around. The Avoriaz up and down app is really informative and a good source of information. There is a good selection of restaurants that cater for large parties, some you can’t book is annoying, we ended up sticking to the ones you could book as it made planning evenings easier. There is a good selection of bars for apres drinks and these include along the pistes. It’s really a little gem of a resort. We would love to go back.

We stayed at Résidence Saskia Falaise - Avoriaz which was perfect. Ski in / ski out. The town is stunning with everything at your door step. The runs were well manicured and lifts were all running smoothly.

We have just returned from Avoriaz, as a Family of 4, myself 43, my wife Lucy 42 and our children Mason 13, and Daughter Amirah 10, It was our 1st time in the French alps, and it didn't disapoint, absolutely stunning place. We have ski'd as a family since the children were 2, and have been to Bansko with friends over the past 12 years, Avoriaz is such a stunning place, it snowed every day on our stay which was magical, ski conditions were awesome, well groomed and so much easier to ski compared to bansko, not knocking Bansko at all, but the conditions we had were just awesome. The apartments we stayed in were pierre and vacancies Electra, clean tidy and ski in ski out which was a game changer for us! Ski lockers on the 2nd floor, clip in and off you go, the ski passes allowed us to ski in the large area of portes de soleil, which allowed us to drop into Switzerland as well, Amazing to see the Swiss wall. Whilst in Avoriaz we as a family of 4 went out for an evening meal every evening apart from 1 where we were all exhausted, the average price for a family meal of one main meal each and drinks was anything between £120 and £200 euros, the quality of food was very good, but slightly on the expensive side, a pint of beer was 10 euros on average, but honestly If you could see how magical this place is, then you can justify some of the prices, we had the most amazing time here, and had Tears from my daughter when we were leaving, we can safely say that it's the best ski trip we have ever had. More than enough slopes for all levels of skiing, quiet slopes, quick ski lifts, hardly any ques, horse and carriage to and from accommodation, so much to do while there, aquariaz water park was awesome on our last day, and theres bowling and a cinema also. We wouldn't hesitate to returning to Avoriaz, absolutely the best skiing and around ski trip we've ever had. We are missing it so so much already. Hoping to visit again next year, I've already started pricing up!

Loved the vibe and that there were no cars, boarding out the door was very fun runs I made it on were great . Apres was perfect and every restaurant we went to was great with lots of options. Shops with all the kit was a godsend when my luggage was lost and saved the holiday! Plenty of rental shops as well. Lesson on the first day was lots of fun and a great way to find my feet for the rest of my time there. Can’t wait to go back

My first trip abroad skiing with my partner who has been here before. With only a bit of Scottish skiing under my belt, I found this an amazing place to develop my skills, the place, the scenery, the ease of everything here - so geared up for the ski life I can’t believe how easy everything is. The green runs are scenic and beautiful; nice restaurants scattered about for a very welcome hot chocolate. Friendly staff and locals, fun atmosphere - après ski a particular highlight. I would absolutely love to return here again if I can.

Skiing in Avoriaz offers great value thanks to its ski-in/ski-out design, reliable snow, and direct access to the massive Portes du Soleil ski area. Huge terrain, smooth lift access, and a car-free village make it one of the most convenient resorts in the Alps

We visited avoriaz in Dec 2025 for the second time, first time in Dec 2020 as a couple and during the latest trip as a family of 4. Avoriaz doesn't disappoint, lifts run well and operating stuff if so efficient and friendly. We loved variety of slopes for all levels and abilities. There is plenty of different type accommodation, we stayed in serviced apartments and it was very well equipped and most of all, we loved ski-in ski-out in avoriaz. We really enjoyed our visit to the Aquarius (spa), although it was quite crowded in there. Food was brilliant at the restaurants we visit (saying that quite pricey). Overall it was fantastic family experience and children can't wait for us to book next ski trip!

After spending years being spoilt in Val Disere, finding Avoriaz was a dream. It’s close to Geneva, the runs are great and varied, with a vast network of lifts. The apres and great, as with places to go in the evening. The village is so cute and will always go back for more.

Our trip in Feb was the best yet and our second to Avoriaz. We stayed down in midst of the restaurants and shops which proved a great location, ski in/ski out. Lots of great places to eat and Apres Ski. The snow was epic this year with 2M of snow falling whilst we were on holiday. We return in December and can’t wait!

Great resort for late ski holiday in early April. Still had plenty of snow as so high up but beautiful sunshine. Plenty of options for all levels from absolute beginners to advanced skiers. Not too busy. Great indoor aqua park for the kids after skiing. Quiet in the town in the evenings while we were there so wax way to get restaurant table at all times. Good lunchtime and Apres skill on the slopes at Yete bar and Folie Douce. Excellent carrefour in town centre for food and drink for self catering. Ski in ski out resort and lots of accommodation everywhere. I would say the town centre is quite small though just one Main Street of restaurants. Would defo go back.
