What Skiers Say About Avoriaz

Avoriaz attracts a wide range of abilities, from beginners to experts, with many families and groups visiting. Reviewers consistently mention the ski-in/ski-out convenience, car-free village with horse-drawn transport, and access to the large Portes du Soleil area including Switzerland. Snow conditions are generally described as reliable due to altitude, though lower runs can become slushy or icy in afternoons. The après-ski scene, particularly La Folie Douce, is frequently praised. Accommodation is often noted as expensive or basic, and lift queues can be significant during UK and French school holidays.

I have visited multiple resorts over the years but Avoriaz is my favourite. I love all aspects of it from the accommodation availability, the food and drink options, and the ski area. My favorite place to have lunch is globetrotters, they do the BEST burgers! and I always make sure to go here when I come back. I love that there is a big ski area and I love heading over towards the Swiss side and head through the tree runs down to Prolays lift. and top off for lunch at one of the mountain chalets.

I always recommend this resort to anyone who asks be where they should go. And there are so many amenities, bowling, swimming, the spa, shopping, and games at the sportsbar.

First time in avoriaz. The ease of having everything so handy was excellent.
Most restaurants shut at 2pm so it was difficukt to eat out if you were not skiing all day.
Supermarkets were excellent value.
Thought the some lifts shut a littlecearly at 430/5pm

This was our second trip to Avoriaz, and we are already looking at coming back in future years with other family members!

The resort is great for couples or families. This means loads of greens and cruisy blues, but steeper blues and reds are plentiful too. For better skiers than we are, there is the option to ski to Switzerland as well as down to Morzine.

We like coming at the end of the season when the sun is out and for two years in a row, we've had temperatures of 20°C most days, but still great snow. There are higher resorts, but the hills here are still snow-filled. I'd absolutely recommend it to anyone, especially earlier in their ski adventure.

There are loads of ski schools, but if you want group lessons, book in advance. You can get next day 121s though, but check out reviews before you book because it's important to find someone you like.

My only real downside to Avoriaz is that I have a dairy allergy and that limited me to 1 or 2 items per menu, and 4 nights out of 6, they had sold out of these options, leaving me without food. The local shops shut at 20:30, so be warned if you have dietaries that you are likely to have to sort your own food out. On two occasions, I was assured the meal had no dairy only for me to be very unwell and learnt afterwards that they'd cross contaminated.

Overall, this is easily our favourite resort because it has something for everyone, even if it shuts early.

Such a great resort! No cars- just skis, lifts and horse rides (be sure to bring your snow boots). Lots of fun for the family including skidoos, thermal spas and, of course, aprés!

As a skiing newbie I loved it. Loads of really nice accessible runs for a pizza French fries type of girl to get started with. Good availability of instructors and there’s ski hire delivery vans in Morzine which really help with getting yourself situated.
I didn’t go to La Folies but the vibe looked great, good mix of food n drink options and deckchairs for after.
Definitely a recommended place for beginners.

Great experience the runs are lovely here. Good for both intermediate and beginner friendly runs. Good runs even in April and not too busy either. The spares were the best but as well incorporating smoking and fun together. Prices are not to bad if you book in advance as well a the actual staff and atmosphere surrounding are great as well. Over all a really great experience and I will be back again next year.

The lift system around the surrounding area of avoriaz is incredible it’s massive I bought the full lift pass and tried to get round as much of it as a I could in 5 days but probably didn’t even see half as a lot of runs were so fun I went up the same lifts multiple times, the after party in avoriaz is the best way to finish off the day if you’re young or old and enjoy a party

I am a beginner and I had an amazing time learning to ski in Avoriaz. I used Evolution2 Avoriaz to attend ski school with. My instructors were Yan and Alex and both were absolutely amazing and I will miss them. I would love to come back in the future to continue my ski school journey.
