What Skiers Say About Avoriaz

Avoriaz attracts a wide range of abilities, from beginners to experts, with many families and groups visiting. Reviewers consistently mention the ski-in/ski-out convenience, car-free village with horse-drawn transport, and access to the large Portes du Soleil area including Switzerland. Snow conditions are generally described as reliable due to altitude, though lower runs can become slushy or icy in afternoons. The après-ski scene, particularly La Folie Douce, is frequently praised. Accommodation is often noted as expensive or basic, and lift queues can be significant during UK and French school holidays.

Love Avoriaz. Boarding through town is always fun. Always try and get up and over into Lindarets for tree runs if visibility is poor. Then up again and into Chatel for great views.

Avoriaz and Lindarets both great for boarding in slack areas if there’s a bit of powder overnight.

Had a great few days skiing here with a group of friends. The resort caters for all and has a good variety of runs with plenty of food and drink options on the slopes.

We arrived as beginners, never skied before so we went and had two lessons with vivienne from Evolution and he was amazing with us and got us on blue slopes by the second lesson. This gave us confidence to go practice what we were taught. Accomodation on site was perfect, warm with a brilliant shower. Never had a bad meal whilst there.

We have been to Avoriaz for the snowboxx festival twice now and have really enjoyed our time. I think we could probably enjoy ever more minus snowboxx due to how busy the resort is during the festival. We had a porters Du soliel lift pass and were able to ski endlessly

I’ve been to Avoriaz 3 times and it’s one of my favourite resorts because of its location, its car-free town, the Porte du soleil and local ski area is fantastic and there’s plenty of restaurants and bars. I wish there was a full spa in town that could be accessed on a day tariff but there’s spa in some of the hotels instead. Après is great too and right next to town so not a dangerous journey back after a few drinks! Love watching people on the snow park whilst taking the chair lift over the top. Super cool.

Good resort. Heaps of runs. Would maybe like to see more red ones scattered about though as mostly blue. And would be helpful if the online maps had notes the run number rather than just the location and the ski lift names. On the ports du soleil side it was sometimes difficult to see also where to go to follow the run when multiple intersected as the signage was limited.

Great runs in the area, we went over to Switzerland twice, les gets and morzine and locally around avoriaz down from the Swiss wall and cookie cafe.

I don’t do snow parks so can’t advise. But the reds we did and the blues we did were great, some really nice long runs with refreshments stops along the way.

Avoriaz is Amazing and has lots of different things to do to suit everyone if skiing, snowboarding or just walking. I’ve been with friends as a party holiday, my partner as a couples relaxing holiday and with kids and grandparents as a family holiday and had a brilliant experience each time.
