Avoriaz Review Summary

Avoriaz attracts a wide range of abilities, from beginners to experts, with many families and groups visiting. Reviewers consistently mention the ski-in/ski-out convenience, car-free village with horse-drawn transport, and access to the large Portes du Soleil area including Switzerland. Snow conditions are generally described as reliable due to altitude, though lower runs can become slushy or icy in afternoons. The après-ski scene, particularly La Folie Douce, is frequently praised. Accommodation is often noted as expensive or basic, and lift queues can be significant during UK and French school holidays.

Great apre and good skiing for intermediate. Apre walkable so good for beginner skiers aswell. No roads so lots of walking unless paying for horse and cart or snow mobile which are not available of a night time

Solo travelled here, had a phenomenal experience. Ski-in Ski-out properties made things awesome.

Such a large range to ride through too with lots of variation.

Absolutely dying to go again!

Loved skiing in Avoriaz and would definitely go back. Slopes for all levels and even though it was a busy resort it didnt feel claustrophobic on the slopes. Hotel we stayed in was great an d very central. Only downside for me would be the friendliness & customer service in some restaurants / bars.

Very good overall resort, also joined with the rest of Porte De Soleil if you buy the full ski pass. Massive amount of runs which lead into Switzerland too. There is a good range of places to stay, from in Avoriaz to in Morzine - a village down the valley which is only a bus away. You can also get a lift directly from Morzine to the back end of Avoriaz (Super Morzine lift). Food and Apres options are very good, more so in Morzine but in Avoriaz there are still many options. it is a generally good resort and I have been going for the past 5 years and still enjoy doing the range of runs they have

This is my 3rd visit to Avoriaz in 12 months. Great resort for a beginner-intermediate snowboarder but it has good parks for more advanced riders too. It is part of a huge ski area as it links into other resorts but there are plenty of local runs for all abilities. Big plus points are short transfer time from Geneva and the fact it is a relatively small car free resort. Accommodation is pretty much all within a stones throw of the centre and the lifts. There are loads of shops, restaurants and ski hire options in the centre. Really friendly and lively resort. Lots of good English-speaking instructors although lessons are not cheap. Can get a bit busy but have never had long lift queues.

Avoriaz is a great resort with lots of options for all skill levels. When visiting with a group that ranged from experts to beginners we al had access to a good amount of skiing at our level with options for the more advanced in the group to head across to the Swiss wall and also ski through avoriaz.

Would recommend and would definitely return.

Not a great place for backcountry skiing and the apres is decent but you have to ski a long way out of avoriaz. Lift kept breaking down (Tour) throughout the whole season I worked there

Week in morzine-avoriaz for the new year- so much snow! Really good mix of runs some challenging some more relaxing. Some of the blues can be a little red but still good fun.
Great range of food on the mountain and easy to find nice quiet runs as the ski area is so big.

A beautiful ski-in, ski-out resort, completely pedestrianised. A great place for families as the slopes are so accessible and lots of activities for children. Snow conditions have always been good for us. Lots of choice for ski schools and a huge number of pistes, for all levels.

My favourite all time resort! A winter wonderland with great apres - super groomed slopes with the option to ski to Switzerland and the Swiss wall. Big area, definitely take the petite train over to Les Gets if snow allows!

Had an excellent time in Avoriaz for the start of the season. Heading back there in March for Snowboxx. Such an amazing resort with slopes for all levels. The parks are great fun and cater to all levels. You have access to such a wide range of runs and can easily head into the Swiss side of the alps.

Amazing resort, very snow sure and the Portes du Soleil lift pass gives you access to a massive ski area with many amazing runs. The village of avoriaz has everything you need in terms of shops, restaurants, bars etc and everywhere is ski in ski out which is a massive bonus. The accommodation is fairly basic but cheap, so perfect for a cheap getaway however if you are looking for somewhere with slightly bigger accommodation you may be better off staying in nearby resorts such as Morzine or Chatel as they have many larger chalets that are family sized. There is also a water park in avoriaz (Aquariaz) which is about £8 to enter and has a swimming pool, water slide and an outdoor hot tub which is great after a day on the slopes. I have already been to avoriaz three times and will definitely be returning again.
