Avoriaz Review Summary

Avoriaz attracts a wide range of abilities, from beginners to experts, with many families and groups visiting. Reviewers consistently mention the ski-in/ski-out convenience, car-free village with horse-drawn transport, and access to the large Portes du Soleil area including Switzerland. Snow conditions are generally described as reliable due to altitude, though lower runs can become slushy or icy in afternoons. The après-ski scene, particularly La Folie Douce, is frequently praised. Accommodation is often noted as expensive or basic, and lift queues can be significant during UK and French school holidays.

Great variation of runs for all levels. Weather not always the best as experienced some rainy days which meant the snow was quite icy or lacked, particularly lower down the mountain towards Morzine. Overall though, had a great time. Lots of options for food and for apres ski. Would definitely go again.

Beautiful resort and amazing ski area for people that like to explore when skiing. So many interconnected ski areas that can easily have you skiing all day without doing the same lift or run twice

We stayed in Avoriaz this week and had the best time! The accommodation was perfect, the slopes were full of snow and the food and drink options were amazing. We caught a horse and sled ride back home on multiple occasions which was a great touch too. Would highly recommend staying here.

Hi skier and snowboarder here! Ive been to Avoriaz three times now and love it every year, I usually go around early/mid January times and its been great snow and weather wise. It does get busy with people around the time I come, however I dont mind too much especially when other resorts are only a bus ride away (which isnt too expensive); I also do this depending on the snow. Food on the mountain is great especially at the restaurant by the Swiss wall (a must see) which in my opinion have the best French fries I have ever had! There are lots of opportunities to go off piste and also do park, so its super versatile in that sense, Avoriaz is also no short of lovely long runs to carve on. Avoriaz has the most stunning views too which take my breath away every time. I stay in another resort usually and take a transfer over which can at times get chaotic however if you plan ahead in due time all is good. Hope this was useful, happy skiing/boarding everyone!

Avoriaz is an excellent all-rounder offering brilliant cruising blues, some sleepy greens through the trees if that's your thing, all the way up to the infamous Swiss wall. The area is massive too, so long as the snow is good on the lower slopes down into Morzine and the Ardent. In resort there is a good amount of shops offering everything that you could need while you're there, more often than not, for less than you'd pay in the UK.Apres is lively, with good options. In terms of food, try Le Yeti for lunch (have the apple and homemade caramel Crepe for pudding, it's awesome), or Changabang for the best burgers in the resort.Overall, avoriaz is an absolute gem, not to be missed!

great area we normally stay in Morzine and get the bubble up rather than queuing for the gondola.
But if you stay in Avoiaz your up there already. Get first lift to the Swiss wall have a look to see if its worth riding if not save your energy and get the chair to the Swiss side for quieter runs

Decent resort, never regret going to portes du soleils ski area as there are so many slopes to hit if you get the full ski pass.

Avoriaz it's self has great slopes, and a good snow park as well as a Burtons wood made park the stash.

Ski apres: Pretty decent with the famous La Folie Douce being here.

Overall solid resort
