Very family friendly car free resort, with other activity options apart from skiing.
Nearly all accommodation ski in, ski out. Snow cover typically good due to the elevation, but the final return piste into Avoriaz can get a little busy and chopped up throughout the day. Apart from this area, it is much quieter (outside of school holidays) due to the large amount of skiable terrain.

Great. No traffic makes the resort really lovely. You can ski from and to your residence door. Good restaurants

Skiing in Avoriaz is really varied and seriously fun. There’s something for every level skier, from beginner to advanced.
Gorgeous, gentle greens and blues for beginners/kids and then beautiful long sweeping reds.
If you’re up for a bit more of an adrenalin rush, hit the various black runs. Portes du Soleil has around 600 km of pistes, encompassing both French and Swiss villages. You can visit both in a day if you fancy a skifari!
There are also terrain parks for freestylers and boarders who prefer a bit of off piste action.
The north-facing slopes at higher altitude tend to get decent snow cover later in the season.
If you like apres (and who doesn’t?), Folie Douce is the one. Go around 2:30pm if you like it a bit quieter, it gets lively later on. Make sure you leave before the last, unless you fancy a bum squeaking ski down.
For more family friendly apres, they have sun loungers at Yeti or Cabane. Same vibes with fewer spilled drinks!
Don’t waste time going back to change out of your boots. Avoriaz is built for ski boots.
Avoriaz is family friendly with its no car zone. Park outside the village and either walk in to your accommodation, or hop onboard one of the beautiful horse drawn sleighs. Stay centrally where it’s flat and ski-in/ski-out. There’s no uphill struggle at the end of the day, with tired little legs and tears.
Ski schools are amazing and run like clockwork. The slopes are quite quiet early on, perfect for unsteady learners.
There’s plenty of brilliant runs for kids with wide, confidence-boosting slopes, for them to build their confidence without terrifying them!
Overall, Avoriaz is a brilliant & picturesque resort, offering something for everyone of all abilities. Whether it’s quality family time or skiing with a group of friends, you’ll definitely find your vibe there.

Avoriaz is a brilliant ski resort with a really laid-back vibe. This car-free village feels unique, ski-in ski-out access is super convenient, and the views are stunning. It's great for all levels, especially if you like good snow and relaxed apres without the chaos.

Great beginner/intermediate resort with lots of ski options between mountains. Snow was not great but expected mid December. Little to no waits for lifts. Village tailored to families and couples.

Such a Wonderfull place to ski, I have been going there for quite a few years now and I love it every time I go, with the tree lined slopes and also skiing in Switzerland to plenty of cafes for lunch or a great hot chocolate. What is there not to live

The resort is really nice and quiet, the apres ski is also amazing with dancers and amazing music too. The people there are also super friendly with many slopes that you can ski/snowboard on. There is also a big park for skiing and snowboarding

Great resort for ski in ski out, purely a ski town with no cars. Great tree runs and fun off piste terrain. Access to a huge area of piste skiing going into other resorts. Good apres ski bars and a younger demographic.

Loved it! Was a first time skier. I defo suggest taking lessons out there as they teach a lot different to the snow domes in the UK, picked it up so much easier and have my next trip booked in 3 weeks

This was my first time in Avoriaz and was very pleased. With the wider mountain pass there is no shortage and a wide variety of slopes to explore.
The resort itself is an excellent little community with easy access to the mountains and all the amenities you could need on your trip.
Don't know if we got lucky but the snow was fantastic the entire week I was there despite being late in the season.
I very much hope to return one day soon.

Have been going to Les Gets, Morzine and Avoriaz for many years and it never tires. Most recently skied Avoriaz towards the end of the season and the snow was still great and would recommend it for all levels of abilities. Great restaurants and the apres is lively.

Avoriaz is one of my favorite ski resorts, it's one of the closest to Geneva (1hr and 4min drive), pedestrian resort, ski in and ski out, everything in town is close, you have great variety of restaurants. Its part of the Porte du Soleil so lots of runs to do. You will not be bored. Also very good for beginners, long green and easy blues

I visited during Snowboxx. With full area lift pass you have literally 100s of KM of pistes. The Folie Douce is unrivalled. And there’s plenty of bars and clubs to choose from.

Went for Snowboxx festival in March, therefore slightly different experience as the festival had loads and loads of cool events on day and night.

Bottom of lifts and main runs are busy. Avoid entirely during school holidays. Exclusive for those that can afford it but very good quality if possible

Nice big ski in ski out area. Lots of food options all over the mountain and in the town. The apres is good at the folie. Good access to supermarkets. I would say the snow is good but it starts to melt outside the hotels and in the town so you can’t ski in ski out properly. Great for beginners. Easy map to follow.

Have been to avoriaz two years in a row. Fantastic resort for beginners, lots of blue runs and have managed to really practice my skiing both times, even skiing to Switzerland on my second visit which was great fun! It’s ski in ski out and it’s an absolutely stunning resort. We stayed in the accommodation called Cap Niege and I would really recommend location wise, close to shops and bars. Trying a different resort next year but I wouldn’t hesitate to go back.

I’ve been to Avoriaz twice and upcoming third time. It’s been a favourite because of many things - the option of having a full Porte du soleil lift pass, it’s based high up so there’s still decent snow at the end of March, there’s great après and restaurants, it’s a car-free resort, and it’s beautiful. The snow parks are fantastic too.
