Avoriaz Review Summary

Avoriaz attracts a wide range of abilities, from beginners to experts, with many families and groups visiting. Reviewers consistently mention the ski-in/ski-out convenience, car-free village with horse-drawn transport, and access to the large Portes du Soleil area including Switzerland. Snow conditions are generally described as reliable due to altitude, though lower runs can become slushy or icy in afternoons. The après-ski scene, particularly La Folie Douce, is frequently praised. Accommodation is often noted as expensive or basic, and lift queues can be significant during UK and French school holidays.

Some great places to ski once you know the resort. There's an amazing ski safari to be had by skiing towards Chatel and into Switzerland, round in a circle towards Champousin and back to Avoriaz. It can be extended by going to Morzine, Mont Chery and Les Gets. Restaurants are great, lifts are swift. In Switzerland there are some drag lifts, but they're well ran.

A lot of families - which isnt a problem but it is when they all stand in a line blocking the ski path good runs and good mixture of different terrains. Very cool to be able to hop over to Switzerland.

Avoriaz is a unique resort in the Portes du Soleil. What I really loved about this resort is the direct access to the ski pistes. It is great for powder and groomed pistes. It has a lively atmosphere in the evening and is perfect for après ski. Absolutely love it and perfect for groups too. Highly recommend.

Avoriaz is a great ski resort with some unique perks. The car-free village is super peaceful, and the ski-in/ski-out setup makes everything so easyyoure straight on the slopes from your doorstep. Its part of the huge Portes du Soleil area, so theres loads of variety for all levels, and the views are stunning.

That said, its not cheap, and it gets pretty busy during school holidays. The nightlife is a bit quiet if youre after a party, and hardcore skiers might find the tougher runs a bit limited.

Overall, its a beautiful, hassle-free spot, especially for families or a chilled ski trip. Id happily go back!

Car-less resort with snow covered streets. Slushy walks at night to bars and restaurants which is fairly limited in choice. Best place in the vicinity for snow sure conditions. Can get crazy busy on the few lower slopes as theyre the only way to the resort so stay high and explore. Theres always the Swiss wall for those who need a challenge. Just be sure your pass will get you home.

Such a great experience every time I visit. No cars in the main town so its all skidoo and horse drawn cart to get around. Lots of pistes to go at and to suit all abilities. Snow is usually good as its high! One of favourite locations!

Avoriaz is the perfect location for all levels of skiers. The Portes de Soleil area offers plenty of options for everyone and the runs are always kept in really great shape. There are so many great options for eating out, with the Goat village being a particular highlight. I would highly recommend a trip to Avoriaz whether you are looking to book somewhere to learn to ski or want an adventure off piste and in the snow parks!

Great resort but can get super busy during holidays and when snow is poor at lower resorts. Good options for travelling wider but havent managed to do much yet.

Good variety, easy to access off piste, part of huge Portes du Soleil area. Easy access from Geneva. Some areas are low so rain can be a problem. Close to Morzine which is a real town with good variety of shops, bars restaurants etc.

Went here during Snowboxx
It was chaos but amazing. Would deffo go back.

First skiing for myself in 14 years, went with a mix of others from first time skier to expert level and 2 boarders. I was nervous.
It was fun for us all! Some good runs that split halfway with red/black options that met again so great for mixed abilities.

The slopes were in surprisingly good shape. I was worried with the festival it would be poor snow but the work overnight by the teams was amazing.
Some good grooming and a fresh snowfall daily helped! Some say its almost a snow sure location.

Deffo get the wider lift pass for the Portes Du Soleil so you can ski up into the Suisse slopes too.

Found some untouched runs up there which was a blessing

It was quite mild as a few of the lower slopes were wet and hard to navigate.
March is very late. But the drinks and music make it a worthwhile gamble.
