Avoriaz Review Summary

Avoriaz attracts a wide range of abilities, from beginners to experts, with many families and groups visiting. Reviewers consistently mention the ski-in/ski-out convenience, car-free village with horse-drawn transport, and access to the large Portes du Soleil area including Switzerland. Snow conditions are generally described as reliable due to altitude, though lower runs can become slushy or icy in afternoons. The après-ski scene, particularly La Folie Douce, is frequently praised. Accommodation is often noted as expensive or basic, and lift queues can be significant during UK and French school holidays.

Was there for the festival. Really well planned and timetabled. Not too busy on the higher slopes and really great for beginners/intermediate skiers.

Love Avoriaz, have visited several times over the years. Car free and ski in and out is so good, particularly if you have kids as it makes things so much easier. The village itself is unique and personally I find the funky architecture fits with the mountain aesthetic really well. Apres (if you want it) is also covered mainly at Folie Douce - dancing on the tables! Loads of great restaurants but also options for self catering too with take-away etc. one of my favourite resorts - skiing is fine into Easter also, never had a problem with that time of year with most of the pistes holding up well.

Absolutely awesome visit. I spoke to a few skiiers and it seems Avoriaz is definitely one of the best ski resorts. A good variety of slopes of different difficulty. The mountains are incredible and the staff in the site are all super friendly and very helpful. I have definitely discovered my love for skiing. A really lovely getaway. I'll definitely be back!!

Came away with my three daughters aged, 20, 17 and 13. 17 year old is a good skier.
Other 2 learning. I snowboard, as a beginner as haven't boarded for 25 years.
Great ski to slopes, great for families. Box clever with super markets as there is a vast difference in costs. Friendly, welcoming environment, would remend to friends and family. May return next year.

Poor snow when visited so Swiss wall closed and doctors strikes closed piste early and parks which was frustrating.

Avoriaz itself is very touristy and full of brits. Locals tend to head to other parts of portes du solet.

Some good side hits in places and off piste looked promising if more snow.

Prices in Avoriaz much higher than
Neighbouring areas. Would return but may stay elsewhere

Great resort for a ski village experience! So many different routes that we could take, going all over so that no two days felt the same. Skiing into Switzerland was great fun as well, and finding a birds of prey farm on a run on the Morzine side. Après was great too, and the lifts around the village made it a lot easier to get home at night.

When I went the snow conditions where amazing as it would snow all night and be blue sky's throughout the day and once the sun set we was able to eat and drink at the cozy bars and restaurants until we was ready to experience the great night life giving it a perfect blend of adventure and evening fun.

Really good, snow was good considering it was December, although no snowfall when I was there really so no powder snow, it would get icy, lots and lots of blue and red runs available, and a long tree run down to the bottom which was good, accommodation was good, and supermarkets available and nearby, and some nice restaurants and cafes

My partner and I really enjoyed Avoriaz for a couples holiday, being above Morzine, Chatel etc gave you a head start first thing in a morning to get the most empty runs for first lift. Plenty of food choices and several nice bars, but night life is not as lively Morzine. We saw how family friendly it is and we are returning this month with our 3 year old for his first trip.

Fairly low in altitude so not the best skiing so late in the season. Great for families and still really good fun all round.

I have been to avoriaz 4x and each time was spectacular ive taught 3 of my best freinds from 0 to intermediate level skiing here the runs go for over 600km you can ski into switzerland and do the swiss wall (double black diamond) one of the hardest runs in the world with mogals the size of cars. The green, blue, red and black variety is nearly unmatched in europe and i say one then the french can cook! The la cabin restaurant is my favourite restaurant on earth with a beautiful setting and ambiance with a live singer that walks around whilst you relax. This resort has somthing for everyone especially partying the clubs are brillaint and apre ski is incredible at la folie douce!
