What Skiers Say About Avoriaz

Avoriaz attracts a wide range of abilities, from beginners to experts, with many families and groups visiting. Reviewers consistently mention the ski-in/ski-out convenience, car-free village with horse-drawn transport, and access to the large Portes du Soleil area including Switzerland. Snow conditions are generally described as reliable due to altitude, though lower runs can become slushy or icy in afternoons. The après-ski scene, particularly La Folie Douce, is frequently praised. Accommodation is often noted as expensive or basic, and lift queues can be significant during UK and French school holidays.

First time in Avoriaz. Fantastic ski in ski out resort. Family friendly. Plenty of lifts, great access to Switzerland. Minimal queue time. Apre’s Ski at the end of the day was fantastic. Plenty of different ski runs to suit everyone and all levels. Snow parks for jumps / moguls.
Avoriaz also has a large communal swimming pool. Great for kids. Eating out cost on par with UK prices. Our apartment had kitchen facilities, so able to mix up eating in/out.
Supermarket facilities also very good, plenty of produce. Would say prices cheaper than the UK.
No car are allowed in the resort, only horse / sleigh or snow mobile.

There are So many runs for all levels in Avoriaz, its one if not my favourite ski resort.

My kids, 9 & 7 years old learnt to ski there, ski school was brilliant, friendly, calm & thoughtful.

I love this resort. The slope options feel endless. Off piste pow days are super fun with a vast area to ride avoiding crowds. Snowpark is fun and has plenty of features to throw tricks. There is something for everyone in this resort. There are a variety of lunch spots which are reasonably priced and great for a midday pit stop. Locals are really nice too!

Fabulous family resort that suits all ages and abilities. We’ve skied as a family since our kids were 4&6 and they’re now 19 & 21 and it’s still a great time! Plenty apres ski options as well.

I went to Avoriaz with a group of friends, despite having accommodation slightly far apart it was still super easy to meet up and eat out together every night. We made full use of the ski area and absolutely loved our time in Avoriaz. We’d love to go back and had the best trip together!

Avoriaz was both romantic and adventurous, going with my girlfriends family it offered us all time together as well as older members to go back to the chalet, while people that wanted to carry on skiing do so. The lifts were great and not much walking was needed. The snow, restaurants and apri ski were all amazing. I hadn’t skied in years and the trip lit the love for it again instantly. Anyone thinking about doing the trip, do it! Don’t second guess it, you’re not gunna regret it.
