Avoriaz Review Summary

Avoriaz attracts a wide range of abilities, from beginners to experts, with many families and groups visiting. Reviewers consistently mention the ski-in/ski-out convenience, car-free village with horse-drawn transport, and access to the large Portes du Soleil area including Switzerland. Snow conditions are generally described as reliable due to altitude, though lower runs can become slushy or icy in afternoons. The après-ski scene, particularly La Folie Douce, is frequently praised. Accommodation is often noted as expensive or basic, and lift queues can be significant during UK and French school holidays.

Avoriaz covers every aspect that is wanted from a. Ski resort. Avoriaz inside port de soleil has a copious amount of runs covering all levels. The folie deux centres in Avoriaz gives a great apre ski vibe as well as restaurants covering the whole resort providing great atmosphere for lunch and hot chocolate breaks. You can access Avoriaz by staying in many different resorts such as, Morzine, Chatel and Champery. The off piste opportunities in Avoriaz are good with many hidden routes to get to big open spaces as well as tree runs. 10/10 resort

I loved Avoriaz as a skier who loves tree lined routes and lots of options. The ski area is massive, it has less restaurants than Morzine but is ski in and ski out which i prefer. There is a good range of options for apre ski with a follie and further below in Morzine another bar for apre. There is also a small club in Avoriaz

I’ve been riding Avoriaz for a decade and it always delivers. Never had to wait more than a few minutes for a lift, legit snow cannons everywhere, stunning treelined scenery, cute chalet chocolate-box vibes and a very decent après scene. As a snowboarder I find the widespread gondolas /chairlifts a real win (AVOID Chatel if you go further afield and you hate drag lifts as much as I do!) Plus there’s lots of other activities to try when you’re not riding. Highly recommend husky sledding through the trees!

Been to Avoriaz a couple of times now, great for beginners, also great for Advanced skiers. Food is great, as are the pistes. Accommodation is limited but not really fussed on that as we’re never really there. Got the ski pass which allows you to go to Switzerland which is quite cool. Will definitely return!
