Avoriaz Review Summary

Avoriaz attracts a wide range of abilities, from beginners to experts, with many families and groups visiting. Reviewers consistently mention the ski-in/ski-out convenience, car-free village with horse-drawn transport, and access to the large Portes du Soleil area including Switzerland. Snow conditions are generally described as reliable due to altitude, though lower runs can become slushy or icy in afternoons. The après-ski scene, particularly La Folie Douce, is frequently praised. Accommodation is often noted as expensive or basic, and lift queues can be significant during UK and French school holidays.

We love Avoriaz for its all round high scoring. It’s easily accessible and the ski in and out is amazing. It’s not about chalet skiing necessarily however there are great affordable apartments and hotel options. Food and beer is great and skiing plentiful.
Feel at home straight away whether it’s family or just the boys.
Highly recommended.

We were 7 families. Kids aged 14-21. All stayed in Pierre et vacance apartments. Ski net n ski out, excellent range of slopes. All very well maintained. Not enough snow to go to morzive - which is included on ski pass. But no matter as plenty of options going to chatel etc.
great on mountain food. Love the goat village.
Evening apres and night time at follie douce and Irish bar. The Cabine restaurant was fabulous.

Great resort, catering for most budgets, and singles/groups, or families. Skiing affords a massive range of options, catering excellently for beginners, through to experts.

Being on the border of Switzerland, the area is massive, with almost no need to ski the same run in a week, twice!

Avoriaz is full of restaurants and shops, and night-time entertainment is a core provision.

Snow cover is always good to excellent, and with new chairlifts going in for the 2025 season, access to the mountains is really quick.

Always love Avoriaz ❤️❤️ My home area so maybe biased but has such fun après and love watching the snow park in the centre. The domaine is so big which means there is a lot to explore and super fun mogul runs around which I prefer. Can get busy and chopped up but it makes the runs fun. Wish there were more groomed slopes / variety of black runs. Wouldn’t say it’s the most advanced resort which is a shame.

Overall lovely resort. Can visit an a relatively tight budget but be mindful of spending money. An average meal is €25, pint of beer €9.50 and shot €5. Very expensive once you’re there. Consider self catering and plan for at least £350 spending money per week.

Avoriaz is always a great option for families. The resort has a lot of offer for both skiers and non-skiers with lots of options around town.
Snow is pretty much garunteed, with accommodation options also in Morzine and getting the bus up to Avoriaz. There is a Folie for apres and igloo bar, and of course the annual snowbox festival.

Went in March. Snow was starting to melt down so it was very slushy. Restaurants close at noon for some reason so food options are scarce around that time. Night life is fun and lots to do.

Avoriaz was mint, wish i stayed longer than just a week. ski in ski out is amazing and there's always something to do when not skiing/snowboarding. my family are beginner skiers so we sticked to blues mostly. they were perfectly groomed and amazing even after a night of snowfall, you can see them on a night ploughing the runs. it's pretty awesome just to see on a night. so many restaurants and bars they're all great, pricy however. apres ski is brilliant if you're into it. i'm not a massive drinker myself but i still enjoyed the apres even though i was drinking orange juice lol. i don't ski often as i prefer snowboarding but it's great for ski runs, wide runs and also very technical runs, even in some of the blues and reds i went on. snowboard in it's awesome as there's many side hits, and always a different route you can take.

honestly it's a great place. i've only been to morzine for a week before avoriaz and id totally recommend going there. but if you're split between the two places, avoriaz is so much better and more reliable than morzine even though they are less than an hour or so away from each other.

Good resort for intermediate to advanced skiers + also some activities for non-skiers. The folie douce can be accessed straight from the bottom of the slopes and also a short walk from the main town centre. The indoor water park is a bonus so remember to pack swimming gear! Pretty good value as well. Some of the resort accommodation is quite dated and if you’re looking for a wild night out it doesn’t come close to other big resorts like tignes. The town is easy to navigate and a bonus is the cable car down to morzine where you can also access transport to the airport.

Avoriaz offered some of the best ski in ski out skiing possible in the alps, the snow from a recent dump got the resort up a running a week earlier than expected. The accommodation offers incredible views and convenience, the Porte de soleil area is one of the best
