What Skiers Say About Avoriaz

Avoriaz attracts a wide range of abilities, from beginners to experts, with many families and groups visiting. Reviewers consistently mention the ski-in/ski-out convenience, car-free village with horse-drawn transport, and access to the large Portes du Soleil area including Switzerland. Snow conditions are generally described as reliable due to altitude, though lower runs can become slushy or icy in afternoons. The après-ski scene, particularly La Folie Douce, is frequently praised. I skied here with my best friend who was a beginner at the time abd we had a blast. There was plenty of different slopes for us both to be challenged and still have fun! We went bowling one evening which was a great time

Amazing resort - we were blessed with lots of new snow during our stay. Avoriaz has a fabulous range of blues and reds for intermediate skiers. It would be hard to get bored here especially if you have the Porte du Soleil pass.

Amazing resort - love the ski-in/ski-out and the fact that everything is so close. Also love the idea that it’s all car free so you feel relatively safe (except for the horse drawn carriages and skidoos whizzing by!). Restaurants are convenient and so is the supermarche.
Could do with probably more groomed runs through the main part of the resort and more safety through there as it does get super busy!

I went for snowbox but we checked out the whole resort and it was great! It has connections to loads of different valleys so there is multiple different options for the skiing, there was a festiva on at the time that we went to which was great and the sores was amazing anyway but the slopes didn’t feel to busy and the lifts were really effecting , overall not a bad world to say about the trip and resort

Just Love Avoriaz so went for Christmas this year . On piste across the Portes du Soliel were in great condition but off piste were hard and icy.
Really enjoyed the Christmas spirit in the resorts and would consider doing it again .
I should be there right now but can't afford a deposit on a new van and a holiday in the same month so hence why im trying this option....Many thanks.

A great ski in out pedestrian resort. Everything is compact and on your doorstep. Some lift queues can be long if you are there during school holidays. A high resort with plenty of snow. The horse drawn sleighs are such a unique feature of this resort.

Avoriaz was incredible during December! With it being early ski season the slopes were quiet and the prices slightly lower however this did mean that the snow wasn’t always the best but that sacrifice was well worth it for it quieter slopes!!

This resort is ski-in ski-out and contains everything you need for a great ski holiday. There is plenty of choice for slopes with an easy to read layout. Our apartment was great in a perfect location next to a bakery and a shop with restaurants a 2 minute walk away. The resort is lively but family friendly. We loved visiting the Igloo bar and Folie Douce!

I was lucky enough to have a week with the kids during Christmas week & a sexy kid free long weekend in March in this sky kissing resort. Ski in ski out luxury, a plethora of mountain resorts, boot banging après & endless runs for all levels serviced by super speedy lifts. Top resort! Can’t wait to return - fingers very much crossed!

We had a wonderful week in Avoriaz. It's a great central base if you want to explore the whole portes du soleil area, we were able to get all the way over to Les Gets and Switzerland during our week. The connections are easy and queues were reasonable given we went during French holidays. The resort is magical and family friendly with lots of non ski activities. I would definitely recommend.

An unbelievable resort. Compact but not overrun with people. Great lift system distributes people in multiple directions quickly clearing any queues.

Lots of variety of terrain with a great selection of blues and reds allowing people to avoid blacks if they want too while still keeping groups together.

Great food options in town and on the slopes. Very safe with police presence at times to make sure everyone enjoys themselves.

Highly recommended

We absolutely love Avoriaz. It’s a stunningly beautiful resort with incredible views. We have teenage boys and the resort caters for us perfectly. Being able to pop back to our accommodation, arrange easy meet ups and enjoy the amazing variety of runs (as we are a mixed ability group) makes it really hard to beat. There is just the right amount of apres fun for us as well as being quiet enough to rest up for another day of wonderful skiing.
We drive from the UK and Avoriaz is so well set up with everything we need.
