What Skiers Say About Avoriaz

Avoriaz attracts a wide range of abilities, from beginners to experts, with many families and groups visiting. Reviewers consistently mention the ski-in/ski-out convenience, car-free village with horse-drawn transport, and access to the large Portes du Soleil area including Switzerland. Snow conditions are generally described as reliable due to altitude, though lower runs can become slushy or icy in afternoons. The après-ski scene, particularly La Folie Douce, is frequently praised. Accommodation is often noted as expensive or basic, and lift queues can be significant during UK and French school holidays.

Had the best time! There was something for everyone. I am a beginner and needed somewhere to build my confidence up a nasty fall. My partner and friends were more experienced. We all loved it. I’ll be bringing my 1 daughter next year as there seemed to cater for all ages.

Brilliant, self-contained resort. Ski in, ski out, ski *everywhere*! Huge ski area so you're never bored, high lifts linking to other Portes de Soleil resorts, and great runs down through the trees. Snow parks and play areas - there's something for absolutely everyone.

This is an excellent family friendly resort with plenty to do. It is ski in ski out and if your staying for a week the port du soleil lift pass is very well priced and there are so many slopes to explore. You can also stay local and get an Avoriaz lift pass which will keep cost down if your planning a short stay. There are plenty of family friendly bars and restaurants. It also has a great nightlife if you're wanting to party long into the night.
Not only does Avoriaz have great skiing and boarding there are plenty of other thing to do, such as ice shaking for the kids, there's a lovely public swimming pool with outdoor jacuzzi, there is also bowling and a cinema. Definitely worth a trip.

I love Avoriaz, been many times, it’s my happy place, one of its unique qualities is the fact when you are in the resort there are no cars, you arrive at your hotel by horse drawn carriage, or snow cat, which makes being in this place feel truly magical. It is also ski in ski out and the village is very accessible by foot. The great blue runs that are on offer really appeal to me and the fact the resort is high normally means the snow is good, or at least skiable. I love the folie Douce for aprés and the restaurants are varied and great. I would definetly recommend this resort

Amazing resort. Completely pedestrianised. Huge range of accommodation. Hundreds of miles of piste and off piste. Perfect for all abilities. I learned to ski in the mimi famose ski school/crèche from 5 onwards. Have skied all over the world but always come back to Avoriaz.

I’ve been skiing for around 40 years and I can honestly say Avoriaz has one of the best if not the best all round feel to a ski resort, also very pretty with plenty of dining options to suit all budgets .

Had a great week in Avoriaz staying at the La’Amara hotel which has some awesome views.
Great skiiing on the blues and reds with chairlift queues not too bad about 10 mins.
Restaurants were great and not badly priced, we also used the supermarket to cook and eat in a few nights. We used peak performance for ski lessons and they were great. We would recommend.
Also head into linderets for some nice lunch options .

Great ski in/ski out, traffic free resort. Good for all levels, and all ages, huge ski area. Can get busy in places at peak times, but it’s possible to find some quiet spots a bit further afield from the main resort. Quick lifts, but could do with better, more efficient queue system. Overall a fun experience
