Avoriaz Review Summary

Avoriaz attracts a wide range of abilities, from beginners to experts, with many families and groups visiting. Reviewers consistently mention the ski-in/ski-out convenience, car-free village with horse-drawn transport, and access to the large Portes du Soleil area including Switzerland. Snow conditions are generally described as reliable due to altitude, though lower runs can become slushy or icy in afternoons. The après-ski scene, particularly La Folie Douce, is frequently praised. Accommodation is often noted as expensive or basic, and lift queues can be significant during UK and French school holidays.

The Porte Du Soleil is such a vast area, even after a week you will never get bored.
There is plenty of varied terrain, beautiful mountain restaurants and fun Apres.

This is my favourite place to ski, I feel like it has easy runs if you're wanting a slow day but also has good advanced runs if you want to challenge yourself. It has a great snowpark with rails and jumps for a range of abilities and the stash is my shining star of this resort - so much fun and my first time ever doing anything like this.
You can ski into Switzerland etc from here too so many linking resorts and options for a change of scenery if you want it.
A real highlight of this resort too is the no cars thing, completely snowlocked everywhere and I think it's beautiful, basically means almost all accommodation is ski in ski out and if you want to get around without walking you need to rent one of the horse drawn carts or use a snow mobile.
Good selection of bars and restaurants in town and also a spa/pool if I remember correctly. Highly recommend and will absolutely be back

Was surprisingly good early season powder, cheap compared to the rest of the alps and good ski in ski out so early on in the season.

Really good resort, with lots of different options of the top of the main lifts. One thing i would’ve enjoyed more was more longer runs, but with lifts being down the bottom it’s not too bad

Great resort has enough for everyone from beginners to pro, with great links to all other areas of portes du soleil. With breathtaking views to leave you feeling unbelievably free. Great place for long or short stays with some of the best apres ski and easy to get up and down with the Avoriaz 1800 gondola. Would highly recommend for those who love off piste and quirky runs like the stash or lil stash great places to have fun including so great side hits

Avoriaz is an excellent family resort with something by for everyone. Beyond the amazing ski options, the village itself has lots of entertainment like a fab swimming pool, bowling and a cinema. Our favourite family skiing place.

Really enjoyed the trip to Avoriaz, the town itself is beautiful and has a really cool vibe with plenty of bars and restaurants located on the same street. Highly recommend upgrading your lift pass to cover the whole Portes Du Soleil ski area, so many amazing runs throughout!

My favourite ski resort, having the extended area lift pass and being able to board uninterrupted for an hour without having to take any lifts is bliss, then back up on the main gondola. Folie is fantastic, the food is great, in town and on the slopes, and the slopes have a great range of difficulty with not too many flat sections

Great place to ski, once you’re out of the bowl there are some really brilliant wide long runs with most having a red or black run route. Also really easy to ski over the Swiss side if you pay a little extra on your lift pass. We skied for a week with lots of variety- I’d highly recommend and am returning next month.

Plenty runs to choose from for all levels. Linderet area best for low visibility days but also gets crowded there as not many other tree areas. Love the pedestrian resort, lots to do in evenings ice skating, bowling, cinema etc.

We stayed in Avoriaz the last week of the season and despite warm
Temps had decent snow. It was our kids first experience, we had great 1:1 lessons from ESF for our 2 and 6 year olds. They loved apres at folie and les trappers, sledging in the village and afternoons in the pool at our apartments. We stayed at L’Amara which was a good choice for self catering accommodation. Not luxury but met our needs, the boot room and almost direct access to proclou was a life saver with two small kids. We’ll definitely go again.

Great resort, we go there most years and is perfect for beginners and intermediate skiers. Having stayed in both Morzine village and Avoriaz both are accessible to the mountain and plenty of restaurants and bars to entertain yourself in the evening
