Alpe d'Huez Review Summary

Alpe d'Huez attracts a broad range of skiers from beginners to experts, with users frequently noting the extensive green and blue runs that make it particularly suitable for learners and families. The resort's high altitude and sunny aspect are regularly mentioned, though this can lead to variable snow conditions lower down and slushy afternoons in spring. Multiple reviewers highlight the long runs, especially the Sarenne black, and the efficient lift system connecting to satellite villages like Vaujany and Oz. Après-ski receives mixed feedback, with Folie Douce praised but some users noting limited options and early closing times. Food quality both on-mountain and in town is consistently well-regarded, though prices are noted as typical for a French resort.

It was my first time at a ski resort after having only done indoor lessons before. There was a great variety of slopes for all levels as well as jump parks and mini slalom courses to have a go on. The queues for the chair lifts were never too bad although some of the green runs could get a bit congested at times. There is good choice for apres bar, La folie douce was of course my favourite! There was a range of accomodation, ours was ski in ski out which was really helpful and we enjoyed some meals out at restaurants as well. Strongly recommend La pomme de pin for French food! Would definitely come back to alpe dhuez

Alpe d'Huez is a beautiful resort in the French Alps with plenty of access to great skiing for all levels. The village offers all you could need in terms of shops, restaurants and bars. The ski school is also great, as a beginner myself coming to the sport in adulthood, I had a great time each morning learning techniques in a fun and safe environment, whilst my partner checked out the more challenging slopes. We stayed in self catering accommodation and enjoyed beautiful wintery views from our balcony each morning. It was bliss.

I have been here over 7 times from when I was 12 to now 21. It has a variety of runs ranging from long wide blues to steep reds and blacks. It is home to the famous sirenne run, although not as long as stated is still and exciting run.

Good resort, nice and high so pretty snow sure however on my last visit the sledge piste was closed and the snow was pretty poor. Above the tree line so no tree skiing.Great wide open piste with lots of off piste just off the groomers. Busy resort but deals with a lot of people well.Decent park with easy access. Will definitely go back

We stayed in Vaujany , a great little village connected to main resort via a huge gondola. Slopes are many and varied, too many for us to ski it all, and high altitude up to 3300. Lovely mountain restaurants and good vibes at la folie douce.Excellent resort for all round snow, pistes, and speed ski. Good choice of accommodation and reasonable prices to be found.

Have skied here lots both as a tourist as a student living locally. Great resort for beginner to advanced level, with stuff for all.Be wary of business and life queens especially in Bristol school holiday time and aim to get to lifts early. I would advise staying in the main town of alpe dHuez if you want to be close to night life and bars, other smaller towns part go resort are nice but you need to get the last ski lift back or bus back. Eating out can tricky if you havent booked so would advise doing that else you may struggle. There are variety of supermarkets so self catering is an option. Overall, good ski resort especially for mixed ability groups.

We loved Alpe dHuez! We went with a group of 10 (both skiers and snowboarders). You are spoiled with the variety of slopes and the amount of them. Apres ski at La Folie Douce was one of the best apres ski locations I visited.

I have ski there with my children just before Xmas. Very good slops, high altitude , snow is guarantee, lots of restaurants toChoose from. Our favourite was Food base with lots of different cuisines at a very reasonable price. Lots of different accommodations to choose from. Big ski area. Lots of lifts and not crowded (at least when we visited in December 2024)

Enjoyed skiing here last year. Nice pistes and quiet queues. Wouldn't call it the best in the alps but costs are usually very reasonable.

Just got back after being there a week, skiing with my sister who hasnt skied for 2 years and me who hasnt skied in 9 years. Its a great resort for all with lots of greens, blues, reds and blacks as well as off Piste. Looked after the slopes and town 24/7. Mum and dad didnt ski and was still plenty for them to do. Lots of run options so you dont get bored and everyone was so friendly. Lifts were incredibly efficient with most the chair lifts having the options of taking a gondola instead. A resort that really caters to all abilities

Great medium size ski resort. Longest black run in France (Sarenne) is great fun! Recommend skiing out to all the little towns at the edges of the ski area

Great resort for beginners due to the bowl layout, but great options for more advanced too. Almost guaranteed sun, clues in the name!

Enjoyed my week here, lots of variety for run types. Some more secluded spots to explore as well with quieter villages and cafes if you want to escape the main resort area.

Brilliant and varied resort with great Apres options. Theres a huge range of runs with miles of Pistes and excellent off piste options. Its also significantly cheaper than many other French resorts with the price of apres and mountain restaurants feeling significantly more reasonable than the more famous resorts.
