Alpe d'Huez Review Summary
Alpe d'Huez attracts a broad range of skiers from beginners to experts, with users frequently noting the extensive green and blue runs that make it particularly suitable for learners and families. The resort's high altitude and sunny aspect are regularly mentioned, though this can lead to variable snow conditions lower down and slushy afternoons in spring. Multiple reviewers highlight the long runs, especially the Sarenne black, and the efficient lift system connecting to satellite villages like Vaujany and Oz. Après-ski receives mixed feedback, with Folie Douce praised but some users noting limited options and early closing times. Food quality both on-mountain and in town is consistently well-regarded, though prices are noted as typical for a French resort.

The resort is great - go to the church on a Thursday evening for an organ concert - the architecture and acoustics are incredible. Also, La Pomme de Pin is great for traditional French food like Raclette and very cosy but book ahead if it’s the Seasonnaire’s night off (normally a Wednesday night). Enjoy!
Three main stores stock everything you need to self cater with a larger store down in Bourg d Osains .Prices are on par with most resorts of this quality.

I recommend Alpe d 'huez for a holiday I've been going regularly for the past 20 years winter and summer.
The snow was absolutely fantastic and perfect weather too, one day beautiful sun and the next would be a snow day, so we had a Constant top up of fresh powder.
The wide range of slopes to chose from was amazing, I’m sure it was over 250km of piste! The beginners slopes were fantastic as 4 of our party were new skiers, the had a few days on them so get their confidence up! And the blue/red and black runs were so much fun for me and my friend who could take them on!
All in all we would 100% recommend Alpe d’Huez to anyone wanting to go, perfect for everyone, party couple or families
Good resort for beginners as lots of green runs, but equally good for blue, reds and blacks. Most lifts are fast and when we visited just after the French holidays there were no queues. Good places to eat and drink both on and off the slope. Favourite spot to stop for a drink on the slope is the The Spot.
Ski quality and variation is up there with the best resorts for suitability to all types of skiers. Lots of green and blue for my wife, reds for my kids and black/off piste options for me. We ski in March and love the sunshine of alpe dhuez. I know it melts the piste in the late afternoon but I'd defo take that as a compromise. Nothing like a cold beer at late lunchtime after a hard morning's skiing in the sunshine.
Apres ski is OK. I haven't been to the Moose Bar but hoping it brings Austrian style apres ski as promised. I'll find out soon. But lots of restaurants and atmosphere in the town in the evening.
Great resort. Ticks all the boxes.
Decent selection of bars and restaurants for the evenings out too.
