Booked fairly last minute and still got a decent deal. Good selection of bars and restaurants. Decent amount of pistes for all abilities. Efficient lifts - never queuing for long periods of time. Particularly liked being able to do a bit of alpine skiing to the nearby villages. Would defo recommend.

Lovely resort, great snow and amazing Aprés! Our chalet was great - central and amazing food. Runs were varied and had good options as I love a cruise on a blue!

Really nice easy beginner runs such as marcels farm and chez Roger however there are also some lovely blacks including the longest black in Europe

As a first time skiier, Alp D’Huez provided a good entry to skiing for me. Some of the ski rental hire equipment places were not as good and friendly as other. The company I rented with was Sport 2000, I would not recommend going with them although they have multiple shops in the area. It is better to go with an independent company who are closer to the slopes- better customer service and pricing. I found restaurants in the area to be disappointing- not a lot of variety and food was very overpriced for what it was. The lessons I did were with the ESF school, I did group lessons which I felt were less comprehensive and supportive whereas my friend took private lessons with one of the ski instructions and she said she felt she made a lot of progress in a shorter amount of time so that is something to take in to consideration if you are wanting to take lessons. In general, the resort itself was very small with not much else to do, very quiet in the evening times and quite a few periods in the day time so I wouldn’t revisit Alp D’Huez.

Visited Alpe d'Huez for my birthday week, which, as it turned out, happened to be literally the week before the covid shutdown. This was my first proper ski trip since working for a ski operator and I had the best time. We stayed in 4* self catered apartment which was centrally located, spacious, and a home from home. The ski lessons were great for me and I really progressed rapidly each morning, then met my partner in the afternoon to practice on the slopes some more. We enjoyed a couple of meals out but mostly cooked in the apartment and enjoyed cosy evenings in. We did however visit la folie deuce, which was a bit overrated in my opinion. Overall, loved this resort - highlight was definitely one of the ski lifts that took you over a valley, with spectacular views. We also went to the highest peak of the resort, which was amazing. Would love to go back.

We stayed at an excellent ski in ski out five star chalet, the resort was beautiful and the ski runs were excellent. We spent some time in the town. It was very friendly to us and our children..
I would certainly return there again

An extensive skiing experience, especially the Tunnel and Europe's longest black run. Huge amount of bars and restaurants to chose from along with a photo opportunity at the Tour du France finishing point in the town.

This is such a family friendly resort- it is easily accessible on foot and there are plenty of lifts and resort ski busses-
The resort has lots of blues and greens to return to resort which is fantastic -
Lots of accessible ski schools and magic carpets-
An all round great resort for families and groups of different abilities-
You can also get a helicopter to Les deux Alpes to ski for the day if you want-
And parapente-
In the village there is a leisure centre and indoor pool- also an ice rink and outside pool-
The area is well maintained trained and has beautiful lights for the Winter season

Absolutely loved it. Great ski area, so much to cover and a variety of slopes. The apres bars at the bottom of the mountain was awesome, with classic Austrian apres and we had an incredible week

Really good early season conditions most of the resort was open. No off piste available as yet or terrain parks open (apart from a few boxes) town was lively at night and good options of food on the mountain. We went for 4 days and was perfect and only 2 hour transfer from Lyon.

The resort itself is pretty much one road in and one road out, and without a doubt ski chains are needed, and a legal requirement. We have visited Alpe d'Huez a number of times and never been disappointed with the snow conditions, Upper areas are always well covered, and the lower slopes benefit from snow cannons when snow isn't falling, there are a huge number of slopes to suit every and any skier, from a beginner to advanced, and everyone else in-between, ski passes are not cheap, so be prepared for that and maybe book a Tribe pass. The resort itself is spread out, with a variety of accommodation to suit most pockets, we drive over to save money and book self catering for our family of 6 (and our dog), in order to save money by cooking our own food. There is a few supermarkets in the resort, and although more expensive than most in France, you can still cook family meals in a budget. The leisure centre offers lots of activities for the family, and the ice rink if you're brave enough is a great way to spend an hour, and if you are lucky enough to catch the kids playing Ice Hockey, they are well worth watching. Overall Alpe d'Huez offers a great family ski holiday,

Quite a few of the runs & lifts were closed mostly lack of snow but some lift problems as well. The area is quite well covered with lifts to get you from one side to the other.

Great resort, would highly recommend....even with the reduced snowfall in early December(which is always a risk at any resort), still found it a lovely place...with the added bonus of tour de France history..

Stayed in a gorgeous chalet, skies on at the back door, out the garden, directly onto the slope leading down to the lifts. Staff at the accomodation were wonderful. The town was lively and not too far away. Slopes were fab, great choice with plenty of space. Quite sure we visited during half term as it was busy but the queues were always moving so it wasn't too bad. Would visit again!

Decent resort with plenty of variety. Managed to ski through it all within 4 days and then things got a little samey. The Sarenne run is glorious and the 'Tunnel' run quite the daunting challenge. Recommend a heli ride over to 2Alps for a day of variety (not worth more than that).

Alpe d'Huez is my absolutely favourite ski resort in the whole of the French Alps. The overall vibe is friendly, with plenty to do to fill a week long stay. There's a range of bars, restaurants, cafes, and nightlife venues to enjoy. Après ski is super accessible which was great for my partner. There was no need to ski in and out from venues like Folie; we simply hopped on the gondola up and down. From the hotel it took us about 30 minutes to reach Folie Douce. Simply walk to the Alpe Express gondola, jump on it, then hop off at Bergers, stroll one minute to the Marmottes 1 lift and take a gondola to the top where Folie sits.

There’s also a cracking après bar, Moose Bar, a 5 minute walk from the bottom of Marmottes 1 gondola that opens right after Folie finishes. It had more pop / cheese tracks to party to which was more our scene. The ski runs are also brilliant for beginners, with wide open pistes that offer the freedom to switch up your route instead of being stuck on one narrow run. Compared to resorts like Val Thorens, the pistes felt really open and you could see everything rather than being confined to one run. Beautiful resort.

So good went back 2 years in a row . Had Christmas there and good runs, not too busy, reasonable snow.
Very enjoyable

I love the varied terrain at Alpe d'Huez. The ski area is huge and hard to get bored of. There's some really good options for ski touring, especially whilst the pic blanc lift is closed after being damaged in Storm Benjamin. It's often busy in the beginner bowl near Alpe d'huez but it's easy to escape the crowds over in Signal de l'Homme or down La Fare. And the Sarenne run is a classic for a reason. We stayed in Vaujany which is smaller and less lively but still plenty of options for a place to have an evening drink.

Great resort, plenty of ski acreage, ski in ski out options available. I will return with how well the resort is kept and the apres is great.

Really great mix of runs although some blues rival the blacks and vice versa…depending on weather conditions i.e a steep blue when it’s icy is toughhh for an intermediate who would otherwise be comfortable on reds. The food and drinks across the slopes was amazing, not a single bad meal. Our catered chalet was fab!
