Alpe d'Huez Review Summary

Alpe d'Huez attracts a broad range of skiers from beginners to experts, with users frequently noting the extensive green and blue runs that make it particularly suitable for learners and families. The resort's high altitude and sunny aspect are regularly mentioned, though this can lead to variable snow conditions lower down and slushy afternoons in spring. Multiple reviewers highlight the long runs, especially the Sarenne black, and the efficient lift system connecting to satellite villages like Vaujany and Oz. Après-ski receives mixed feedback, with Folie Douce praised but some users noting limited options and early closing times. Food quality both on-mountain and in town is consistently well-regarded, though prices are noted as typical for a French resort.

Quiet pistes, efficient lifts and a lot of sun! Good variation of pistes to be enjoyed by all levels with a good variation of challenging pistes for more advanced skiers. The inclusion of being able to ski at the neighbouring Les Deux Alpe with your pass at no extra cost is a great bonus giving you a huge range to explore, far more than you could manage in a week!

On average an easier resort than others. Huge expanses of greens on the lower slopes make it good for beginners and the reds and blacks are much easier than those in other resorts so intermediates can push themselves. Probably is a little lacking if youre looking for a lot of very technical runs especially if the tunnel is closed

The resort was big and had lots to offer. The ski area isnt huge but enough for one week of ski. There was a lot more red and black runs than blue so for more advanced skiers. All food was great plenty of on piste options. Friendly staff everywhere.

Slopes are great for all levels. For the more advanced there is areas to test your abilities too. Very family friendly with fun runs that everyone can enjoy. Great apres from folie up the top and our favourite Moosebar down the bottom. Plenty of nice places to dine out; across the slopes and throughout the town which vary in cost. When we did get a good day of powder it was great and the resort helped you enjoy it

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Alpe d'Huez and had an incredible experience! The resort itself is absolutely stunning, offering a wide variety of slopes suitable for all skill levels, from beginners to seasoned pros. The breathtaking views of the Alps were a constant highlight, especially from the top of the mountain. What really stood out to me, however, was how family-friendly the resort is. There are plenty of activities for kids and families, from ski schools to toboggan runs and even an ice skating rink. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it a perfect destination for a family getaway. The hotels in Alpe d'Huez were top-notch, with many offering ski-in, ski-out access, so you can hit the slopes without any hassle. The accommodations were comfortable, modern, and well-equipped, ensuring a relaxing stay after a day on the mountain. The dining options were also great, offering a mix of local Alpine dishes and international cuisine, which made everyone in our group happy.Overall, Alpe d'Huez provides a fantastic mix of excellent skiing, family-oriented activities, and outstanding hotel accommodations. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a memorable mountain holiday!

We had an excellent holiday at Alpes dHuez in spite of some less than ideal snow conditions. The resort is extensive, with runs / pistes for all abilities, however conditions were icy with hard snow whilst we were there. Whilst we had an enjoyable experience, we felt that the resort would not be as enjoyable for novice skiers/snowboarders given the difficulty and condition of the green slopes. The resort has excellent amenities for families, our 3-year old had a blast at ski-school, and there are plenty fun routes dedicated to young skiers / snowboarders

A perfect resort for families as the grade of piste gets harder the higher you go up the bowl. Plenty of park skiing with jumps for all, even a bit of night skiing. Apres ski is chilled, there is also a pool and ice rink.Lots of variety in the restaurants to suit all tastes and pockets.
