What Skiers Say About Bansko

Bansko attracts predominantly beginner and intermediate skiers and snowboarders, with reviewers consistently noting its budget-friendly pricing for accommodation, food, and drink in town. The resort offers around 75km of pistes with a good mix of blues and reds, though advanced riders report the terrain becomes repetitive quickly. The single gondola from town creates significant bottlenecks, with queues frequently exceeding one to two hours during peak periods and school holidays, leading many users to take taxis to mid-station instead. Most reviewers praise the food scene, particularly in the old town, and describe the slopes as well-groomed when snow conditions allow, though coverage at lower elevations can be unreliable early and late season.

It hadnt snowed for a while when we visited so it was a little icy, but some really nice runs and great value for money. Its also perfect for beginners as there are quite a few blues. Theres only one gondola up the mountain which can be a little slow, but there are options to get buses/ taxis up too which is pretty handy. Will definitely be back!

Dogs on the slopes.Felt poor and rich at the same time. Not a beautiful place. But cheap ski trip. Go to get on the slopes not for the social side. Food not good. But if a deal came up I would slot in another week. Go to bed early and ski early.

I had a great winter holiday doing skiing in Bansko ski resort. I didnt even miss a day. In my 5 days holiday, I went 3 days regularly. The resort was really wonderful and got lots of slopes; high and low. I went to the top of Peak Bansko Mountain 2600m, where I descend to the bottom of Kolarski. That one was one of the breathtaking experience of my life. Had a best experience and made some really beautiful memories of Bansko. I never thought I would love winter this much. The environment, the crowd, food, music everything was great and reasonable. Looking forward for another winter sports skiing holiday next year in some other countries. Thanks Dee

Love Bansko. As ski holidays go, the price is reasonable. There is a nice vibe there with lots of going out people. Not the best for powder but still plenty of nice ski slopes and fun little off piste sections. Would definitely recommend to anyone

Gondola queues from the town to the slopes can be extreme. Try to avoid school holidays. Relatively limited skiing, but offset by excellent price point for those on a tight budget.

Pretty small resort so good if youre only going for a few days. Great for beginners as the red and black runs arent difficult.

Friendly and excellent value for money. Ski school was a good balance of instructing and skiing at a challenging level. Beer was cheap and there is a good range of reasonably priced restaurants to eat out in.

Just spent a week there with a friend, Im very happy with the overall value for money. Slope conditions were a little icy due to a lack of recent snow however this didnt detract from the overall enjoyment of the trip. Very impressed with the food on offer almost too much to chose from and all very tasty. Good mix of self catered and hotel accommodation. However with the price of groceries compared to eating out youll probably better of with the latter. Ill most definitely be returning when the conditions are more favourable.

1st time in bansko last week, great small resort ideal for not school holidays. As long as you get up early for first gondola lifts we're not a problem. Resort a lot cheaper than alps

Cheap and cheerful ski resort. End of season is quieter but still with a good level of snow. Plenty of options for beginners to learn and gain confidence whilst still having slopes for more confident skiers or snowboarders

Bansko is the perfect place for skiing/snowboarding. Excellent night life and the resorts are 5/5 with excellent facilities. Recommend this as a group of friends. The slopes are not too difficult as we found we could get down black runs easily

This was my first time on a ski holiday. I would say that Bansko is more suited to intermediary/experts as there are not many beginner friendly runs or nursery slopes. These became extremely busy which resulted in larger queues for the button lifts. The more intermediate runs are much quieter and easier to get up to. The ski school isn't great as had to compete with larger groups. Way better to invest in a private session

Great place for beginners and mixed groups although for better skiers you may run out of slopes quickly. The gondola queues can be hours long which can really impact vibes and for that reason we wouldnt return. Town and skiing great fun though and pricing very reasonable

Surprisingly enjoyed Bulgaria! Was optimistic before going, but its actually a lovely place, it can get busy waiting for the lift, but if youre an early riser you should have no difficulty. Slopes for all levels and bars, restaurants available in all the areas you need them. Overall happy with the trip.

Beautiful skiing. Although, on the mountain it can be expensive its still cheaper in comparison to so many r escorts. Once you get past the gondola life is good and plenty to explore for a weeks worth of skiing including a park. A range of hotels available too and can be good for a quick everyday life break
