What Skiers Say About Bansko

Bansko attracts predominantly beginner and intermediate skiers and snowboarders, with reviewers consistently noting its budget-friendly pricing for accommodation, food, and drink in town. The resort offers around 75km of pistes with a good mix of blues and reds, though advanced riders report the terrain becomes repetitive quickly. The single gondola from town creates significant bottlenecks, with queues frequently exceeding one to two hours during peak periods and school holidays, leading many users to take taxis to mid-station instead. Most reviewers praise the food scene, particularly in the old town, and describe the slopes as well-groomed when snow conditions allow, though coverage at lower elevations can be unreliable early and late season.

Great wee Bulgarian town, people are nice, slopes and areas close to slopes are more expensive but if you go where the locals go you can get a glass of wine or a beer for under 3 euros. Great food. 4 mile long beginner slope

So we visited as a family and friends group. All adults and we chose tone of the busier times to go but the poor timing was the fact the snow wasn’t there. But even with the poor snow conditions the runs that were open (only one or two runs each day) were great chance for us to experience the mountain and it’s fun. I would defo visit again and we will be returning to Borovets at the end of fed to compare locations

Bansko offers amazing boarding and is a lot less cheaper then other countries, still has all the lifts and on pistes for a great holiday, I spent most of my time off piste following the lifts down in powder was so much fun!

Que for Gondola can be quite long, you can bypass this by getting taxi up to first lift. less than £5 per person. High winds can close gondola easily. Highest slopes reasonably quiet. Make sure to venture into old town, traditional resturants and very friendly grateful hosts. Overall, reasonably priced and good for beginner to advanced. Best of the Bulgarian resorts imo.

Our group ranged from complete beginners all the way up to almost-pros and everyone had a really great time! The blue runs were busy but wide enough that it was manageable. Ski rental was really easy and convenient as they let us leave our gear at the place every evening. Food and drink was a little expensive on the mountain but that's to be expected. Highlight was seeing all the dogs that follow behind their owners down black slopes!

Great place for eating/drinking after skiing. The slopes themselves are a little basic, but good enough for a fee days. Long gondola from town to the start of the slopes and can be a long queue in the morning to get up the hill.

Brilliant value for money if you’re looking for a budget ski holiday - we went as a group of 9 of us and managed to find a great accommodation last minute as well.

Slopes are great for beginners / intermediates and there are a few harder pistes too. It wasn’t busy at all and no queues for the lifts which was fabulous. Only thing was the gondola queue at the beginning of the day was very busy. We chose to take the bus up which was only 15 minutes and probably saved us an hour!

Would visit Bansko again!

I have a lot of affection for Bansko, especially the ski run back to the town. Yes, the infrastructure in the town is typically Eastern European and the gondola is very busy at peak times, but there are some great, inexpensive restaurants and the aprés ski is good. Snow cannot be guaranteed at Christmas with global warming. There are plenty of snow machines but the run down to the town closes.

Have to time the gondola up to avoid long queues, great apres ski and vibes on the mountain. Some runs have flat parts so a bit slow going for snowboarding at times. Beautiful tree scenery :)

Went with a group of 25! Had the best time! Loved TSAKIRIS lessons and hire! We had the best time - came in January but our snow board instructor said March is the best!

Great for an affordable ski trip. As beginners we would have benefited from more green and easy blue runs but the 7km ski road made up for this! We ate amazing food each night all which was great value for money

Pretty good value for money at one of the cheapest resorts in Europe. Expect queues at the gondola and some lifts. Resort is well maintained but could benefit from better signage.

Definitely more expensive now they have moved to the euro but still cheaper than other resorts.
Slopes busier on the weekends, wait for the gondola is nowhere near as bad as folk make out. Longest we waited was 25mins.
Beginner friendly slopes but can get a bit boring after a while as runs aren't that long.
