What Skiers Say About Bansko
Bansko attracts predominantly beginner and intermediate skiers and snowboarders, with reviewers consistently noting its budget-friendly pricing for accommodation, food, and drink in town. The resort offers around 75km of pistes with a good mix of blues and reds, though advanced riders report the terrain becomes repetitive quickly. The single gondola from town creates significant bottlenecks, with queues frequently exceeding one to two hours during peak periods and school holidays, leading many users to take taxis to mid-station instead. Most reviewers praise the food scene, particularly in the old town, and describe the slopes as well-groomed when snow conditions allow, though coverage at lower elevations can be unreliable early and late season.

Head down to the old town for a decent and cheap meal along with some decent craft beer.
A wait for the initial gondola, but then once past that an efficient and well maintained ski area.
For intermediates, I think this resort if very good provided you do not get bored of doing the same runs. There are a few off piste options and trees if you know where to look! Certain runs have a lot of side hits too which are fun.
The ski park only opened late January. It is small and only has 1 (?) box but a lot of rails, so not park-beginner friendly.
The gondola queue in the morning is very long and can take up to 2 hours to get on. The gondola’s are old (2002) and slow. Many people take taxi’s up but a major refactor is needed to accommodate for high demands. If I bought a lift pass, I should not have to pay for VIP or taxi/shuttle to get up!
Food on mountain is expensive as expected but the quality is not as good as other resorts I have been to.
Lovely spot for beginners or intermediate skiers with a few good blacks
Cons: very crowded so even on easy runs it was frightening having tons of people whizzing close by. Many near misses where i almost got hit, and a couple of times people actually crashed into me but i managed to right myself. Gondola up to the slopes from town is crazy busy. We queued an hour on the friday and 2 hours on the saturday. Legs tired before we even got to the slopes! Town is now over-run with tacky ugly modern bars and fast food. Everything is expensive since the resort became popular. Won't be going again!
Booze is extremely cheap and you have plenty of options for cheap food however stay away from the guys trying to rope you into the booby bars (unless thats your thing and there's like 10 of them)
Id recommend anyone to give it a go
not too big so wouldn’t recommend for longer trips- runs do get very repetitive after awhile.
there is also only one gondola up the mountain, so the queues can go crazy, our biggest wait was 1hr 20 and smallest was about 25 minutes.
there were some nice runs though, wouldn’t say any were too difficult for intermediate level. probably not the best resort for beginners as there are not any greens, although saying that most of the blues would still be probs easy enough for new starters.
if I were to go again it would only be for a couple of days as there was just too many people and not enough slopes unfortunately.
still good crack overall though
