What Skiers Say About Sölden

Sölden attracts predominantly intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders seeking reliable snow conditions and extensive terrain. Reviewers consistently highlight the glacier access, long wide runs, modern lift infrastructure, and vibrant après-ski scene. The resort draws mixed-ability groups and those looking for high-altitude skiing with good snow coverage throughout the season. Common criticisms include crowding during peak periods, expensive lift passes relative to terrain size, and challenging home runs in warm conditions. Several users note the resort feels less traditionally Austrian and more commercialised than comparable destinations.

I have fond memories of skiiing in Sölden as a child. It was where we would spend our family vacation. Gasthaus Knaus was the place we would stay. I wonder if it still exists. Ski school was awesome. Instructor Doc from the ski club taught me how to ski. Lessons were awesome! The slopes and the social life on the slopes were impressive. Night skiing was my favourite.

The most amazing chocolate mousse in the cafe on the 007 mountain. found the best snow was the furthest part of the resort. Not a traditional Austrian resort it felt a little bit more on the modern side.

Visited 2019, loved the resort, skiing and all amenities. The range of skiing suited us as family of varying degrees, we experienced the electric festival and were blessed with fresh snow that resulted in some excellent mogul fields I hadnt experienced since my 20s! 007 at the top was an extra thrill for the James Bond fans in the family and the views still waiting to revisit. Loved it all.

Fantastic resort for any Mixed ability group. Great mix of above the tree-line, steeps, wide easy motorway runs & runs through the trees. Very snowsure . Great restaurants on mountain . Apres- ski is legendary and very friendly.
Short free bus ride to Obergurgl & Hochgurgl which has zero queues and lovely skiing.
Only downside is village is not compact and quite long but regular free bus runs like clockwork . Would highly recommend.

I went to solden for Christmas in 2022 - I thought it was brilliant had everything in terms of slopes - never felt the slopes were overcrowded at all nice free space - especially in morning to board / ski - the peaks are beautiful and my favorite part was the 20km snowboard killer through the valley when you come off the highest peak {hard work)

I visited Sölden in February of 2023 and 2024, the first on a group trips and the second with a friend, returning the second year because we enjoyed the resort so much the first time. Before even reaching the resort, the flight is short and the transfer only an hour or so, so ideal for 4 or 5 day trip without feeling like time is wasted. There's a wide range of accommodation from apartments to hotels of all standards, often with decent bars inside or nearby. The town is located along the main road so some bars and restaurants can be a walk away, but there's always an option nearby. The ski area is a good size with all slopes requiring a decent standard of skiing, even the blues. I wouldn't recommend it for beginners, but it's an amazing area for top low intermediates upwards. The vast majority of lifts are modern, quick and don't usually have a queue except for the Einzeiger chair which often bottlenecks as it's on the way to the glacier. It's more than affordable to eat and drink on the mountain, and many of the eateries are of a really good standard. The place on slope 24 is really good for food and we often enjoyed the last drink of the day at the top of lift C34. Be aware that there's no ski-in-ski-out (unless over at Hochsolden), so it can be busy coming down at the end of the day. If the weather's on the warm side, or it's particularly busy, slopes 9, 21 and 22 can be very choppy in the afternoon. The apres is good across the resort (give Fire & Ice a go). Overall, one of my favourite resorts and definitely recommend to skiers and boarders that like a good mixed challenge, decent food and a good time.

Here for a day early season. Absolutely loved it. It was quiet mid week and it dumped!! Had to wait at a coffee shop for lift to open and when it did ahhhhmazing!! What a wonderland!! Groomers topped with 40cm of light fresh pow!! So much to choose from!! I would love to spend more time here. Not the glamour and glitz of Kitz so its fantastic. Town is lovely, the food we had was brilliant!! Staff was friendly, lines were quick.
