What Skiers Say About Sölden

Sölden attracts predominantly intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders seeking reliable snow conditions and extensive terrain. Reviewers consistently highlight the glacier access, long wide runs, modern lift infrastructure, and vibrant après-ski scene. The resort draws mixed-ability groups and those looking for high-altitude skiing with good snow coverage throughout the season. Common criticisms include crowding during peak periods, expensive lift passes relative to terrain size, and challenging home runs in warm conditions. Several users note the resort feels less traditionally Austrian and more commercialised than comparable destinations.

Great resort I went as a young adult and loved it. Great runs, even better apres. Will tell anyone I know Austrian apres and ski resorts will dump all over any French resort

I visited Sölden in February of 2023 and 2024, the first on a group trips and the second with a friend, returning the second year because we enjoyed the resort so much the first time. Before even reaching the resort, the flight is short and the transfer only an hour or so, so ideal for 4 or 5 day trip without feeling like time is wasted. There's a wide range of accommodation from apartments to hotels of all standards, often with decent bars inside or nearby. The town is located along the main road so some bars and restaurants can be a walk away, but there's always an option nearby. The ski area is a good size with all slopes requiring a decent standard of skiing, even the blues. I wouldn't recommend it for beginners, but it's an amazing area for top low intermediates upwards. The vast majority of lifts are modern, quick and don't usually have a queue except for the Einzeiger chair which often bottlenecks as it's on the way to the glacier. It's more than affordable to eat and drink on the mountain, and many of the eateries are of a really good standard. The place on slope 24 is really good for food and we often enjoyed the last drink of the day at the top of lift C34. Be aware that there's no ski-in-ski-out (unless over at Hochsolden), so it can be busy coming down at the end of the day. If the weather's on the warm side, or it's particularly busy, slopes 9, 21 and 22 can be very choppy in the afternoon. The apres is good across the resort (give Fire & Ice a go). Overall, one of my favourite resorts and definitely recommend to skiers and boarders that like a good mixed challenge, decent food and a good time.

Here for a day early season. Absolutely loved it. It was quiet mid week and it dumped!! Had to wait at a coffee shop for lift to open and when it did ahhhhmazing!! What a wonderland!! Groomers topped with 40cm of light fresh pow!! So much to choose from!! I would love to spend more time here. Not the glamour and glitz of Kitz so its fantastic. Town is lovely, the food we had was brilliant!! Staff was friendly, lines were quick.

The greatest holiday and ski resort I have ever been to for many many years.
Solden is a beautiful resort plentiful with restaurants and stunning hotels.
The highlight of the entire trip was the James Bond experience which is something I would visit every year for the rest of my life.

A very fun few days here. Excellent places to stop for a beer or lunch on the mountain. The glacier offered great terrain when the rest was a bit warm and soft.
Apres-ski offered fun options but some places were so busy you couldnt move.
Bus was efficient and fast in the morning and gondolas to access the hill had lines only a few minutes long. Once on the hill
Lines were no more than a few minutes at any time.

Great long resort. Good selection of intermediate runs, not so good for novice skiers! Very high so snow sure in most areas, large area so never get board. Obergurgl and Hochgurgl just up road on bus, both great areas

Solden is a great resort for skiers and snowboarders, we have visited twice now. The runs are varied, lots of wide long runs and good places to eat and drink. Excellent lift systems and often lively with live music events. There are plenty of things to do such as the James Bond experience and good apres!

A great range of pistes for intermediates and above. I wouldnt recommend for beginners as even the blue slopes have some steep tricky bits and get very busy. Some slopes can get very busy with some pinch points that can get very chopped up early in the day. But theres a huge ski area with some very good fast lifts. Lovely mountain bars and cafes. The shuttle bus service is very frequent and useful .
