What Skiers Say About Sölden

Sölden attracts predominantly intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders seeking reliable snow conditions and extensive terrain. Reviewers consistently highlight the glacier access, long wide runs, modern lift infrastructure, and vibrant après-ski scene. The resort draws mixed-ability groups and those looking for high-altitude skiing with good snow coverage throughout the season. Common criticisms include crowding during peak periods, expensive lift passes relative to terrain size, and challenging home runs in warm conditions. Several users note the resort feels less traditionally Austrian and more commercialised than comparable destinations.

Great resort! I went with a group of friends, all of us on different ski and snowboarding levels and we all enjoyed trying different slopes through the weekend. The glacier views and pistes are stunning, and it wasnt crowded at all in mid December. Great apres-ski options, and very close to Aqua Dome for a relaxing soak.

Fantastic infrastructure, great lift system.
Great links across the 2 glaciers.
Skiied too hard on a couple of days to use the runs into town.

First time in nearly 40 years of skiing that we lost a morning due to TOO MUCH SNOW!

Cant wait to return and ski and party

Great fun for a weekend, decent range of terrain, fast lifts and lively apres. Possibly a bit seedy if you come with kids, and steep runs back into resort for less confident skiers.

Sölden has pretty much everything most people will want from a holiday and I don't know why more Brits like me haven't discovered the resort. There is plenty of night life and great high altitude skiing and lower runs between the trees. Also the lift pass covers Obergurgl so you can enjoy more high altitude skiing or even Hoch Oetz so the is more tree lined skiing for cloudy days. In resort it lack the charm but there is a big high street with many different types of bars, many with live music.

Apres and family friendly resort. Excellent connectivity via the two main bubbles going up to the two glaciers. Very snow sure, first week of December has been ace. Plenty of runs for a few days, and few bus to Ober Gurgl to mix the experience up- only 20 minutes by bus.
Great connectivity to Innsbruck and Munich.

Solden is a high level resort with glacier skiing. It has wide slopes that help develop confidence in novice skiers.
The glacier provides wonderful views and great skiing. It can be slow to get there in busy weeks as the majority of users want to visit. My recommendation is to head over around 1100 ski flat out and return at 1330. There is abundant skiing to enjoy away from the glaciers.
The James Bond centre is well worth a visit. Youll want to watch a Bond movie that night.
Hit the bars straight off the mountain and feel the buzz.
Accommodation out of Solden can be cheaper.

Fab high altitude intermediates resort with slopes well kept and linked. Addition of lift pass linked to Obergurl Hochgurgl and easy bus ride for lovely cruisey pistes. Great variety of apres ski from rocking bars, cosy stubls, ritzy hotels and everything in between. Good mountain restaurants at reasonable prices and brilliant hotels for all budgets. And all within an hour of Innsbruck airport.

Within easy reach of Innsbruck airport, Solden is a fantastic option for all your skiing fix. A fantastic choice of accommodation our favourite is the Casa company and in particular Casa Juwell which is close to ski in ski out.

Solden is not the prettiest resort but as we stayed above the village and was there purely to ski it didnt affect us.

Loved jumping onto the skis and skiing down to the main gondola, a great way to start. However the last part down to the gondola gets cut up very quickly so we tend to use it twice early in the morning then venture further afield, just glad we didnt have to use as the last run. Solden has enough for everyone, some fantastic cruising blues, challenging reds and of course the World Cup Rettenbach piste. The lifts are brilliant and we hardly had to queue at all. Easy to find your way around. Loved the piste side bars and restaurant especially Bubis. No trip would be complete without a trip to the Ice Q and the 007 experience. If you really want to push the boat out we can highly recommend the summit dinner at the IceQ. Absolutely amazing food and wine with stunning views.

Made famous by James Bond solden now has additional spots on offer on the mountain. It is well worth trying to ski the big 3 ( 3 peaks over 3,000 meters) one of these is the Ice Q used as a key element in bond. Skiing from here down to the village you ski passed the glacier road where the car airplane chase was filmed. You really feel like you are on a film set.
It is also worth venturing onto the rettenbach glacier where every October the opening FIS wold cup races are held!

Having never skied before I was impressed with the variety in the blue runs.
Completing the valley run was a highlight of the week!

Unfortunately the weather was windy for half the week with the lifts being closed it caused the lower slopes to be very busy.

Just back from an amazing week with my husband 3 young children and my retired parents. Stayed in small town of Langenfeld and drove to Solden or orbergurgl each day. Free parking at Obergurgl 6euro a day at Solden. Both results offer an amazing expanse of slopes across a wide range of slopes to cater for all abilities. Modern lifts and amazing value for 404 euro per adult fora 6 day pass.

Sölden is a very variable ski resort with lots of different levels of on and off-piste terrain. Slopes are perfectly groomed and you can ski both above and below the tree line. With its two glaciers it's definitely one of the most reliable ski resorts in terms of snow. Lifts are modern and up to speed but lines in the high season can get long.
Off-piste terrain is amazing with accessible big mountain runs and long descents. Things get tracked quickly on a powderday.
Value for money is good, restaurants are okay, some of them really good.
The biggest con are the crowds. Forget Sölden in February and also during Christmas time. Even the low season can get crowded. The resort is big enough for the crowds to spread, if you're looking for empty slopes, you might find them in the off-season on Gaislachkogel. Giggijoch on the other hand is the easier mountain with access to the glaciers and it does get very crowded.
All in all a beautiful ski resort with good value for money but avoid it in high season.

Some epic skiing here, especially on a powder day. Bonus to be able to ski on two different glaciers. Some choke points in the lift system, but usually the lines moved quickly. Good on-mountain dining options and après was lively.

Great resort for all with plenty of runs for four or five days. Super efficient lifts and gondolas but the real gem of this resort is the 7km toboggan run! We got a night ticket and it was the funniest ride ever. Like Mario karts in the snow with everyone laughing Decent speeds and hairpin turns make it a unique experience. Well played Sölden! ️

The ski area is split into three areas, perfect for a different area each day. Although the resort is 48% blue it has the feel of a intermediate level resort. I think a beginner would have to learn fast to keep up with the pace in Sölden. Off between the tree you can discover some brillant mtb trails which are fabulous fun to ski down. The schnapps is a must try while enjoying the Austrian mountains.
