What Skiers Say About Marmot Basin

Marmot Basin attracts skiers and snowboarders of all levels, from beginners to experts, with families being particularly well-represented. Users consistently mention minimal lift queues, friendly staff, and the convenience of parking close to the slopes. Snow quality is frequently praised when conditions are good, though several reviewers note that the resort can be lean on snowfall compared to other Rockies resorts and that icy patches or bare spots appear in lighter seasons. The resort is described as quiet and uncrowded, with terrain suited to natural riding including tree runs and powder bowls. Reviewers repeatedly highlight Marmot as good value compared to larger resorts, though food and beverage prices are considered expensive. The mid-mountain chalet is mentioned regularly as a pleasant spot with fire pits and music, though it can get crowded at peak times.

Marmot has a lot of expert terrain, more black diamond runs than any other type, but there is enough variation in terrain that skiers and snowboarders of any level can have an excellent day at the hill. The only thing that could be done better is terrain parks. They only have 2 small rail parks currently, but anyone looking for natural terrain should be able to find what they are looking for.

One of my fav resorts. Love the area and love Jasper. Laid back place when you know how to avoid the choke points above the mid-mountain lodge...which is one of the best mid-mountain lodges around, BTW. Have fun blasting laps on the Eagle Express and the Knob slopes through the trees and the open bowls. Easy to ski out to all of the parking lots and there are often great parking lot vibes with tailing gating and visiting. Watch out for the giant, curious Corvuses while snacking outdoors.

Its Edmonton areas default mountain. Its good but not great. I know all mountains have had a tough season this year with snow but the snow was so weird and there was basically no groomed runs when we were there this past weekend.
My fiancé also ended up wrecking his board pretty good as the knob runs had a lot of only barely covered rock so that you go over it without even realizing and he ended up with a knarly gash.
Its an okay mountain and offers some good runs off of eagle but it feels like everything funnels to basin run so it feels pretty crowded at times in some spots.

No lift lines or crowds, wide open spaces and fantastic snow all season long!
Two on-mountain chalets means you and the crew can mix up spots for lunch and bevvies through the day, and stay in the upper mountain with even less people and even better snow.
I don't have kids, but friends love that they can split up for runs and easily meet everyone at the base with the resort naturally tunnelling everyone to the same spot at the bottom.

This is a great place to spend the day. Have a BBQ from you vehicle in the parking lot right on the hill. Huge variety of terrain when its all open. Having a rough go this year with little snow but lots of terrain for the small crowds.

Marmot Basin is a great, family friendly resort that has expanded its options for advanced skiers too. With the recent updates to lifts you get even more time on the slopes. But youre better off staying south so we continue getting uncrowded slopes and short lift lines ;)

A true hidden gem. Only category lacking is off piste skiing. There's only one big bowl. And the annual snow fall is not optimal.
But best part skiing at the mountain is how quite it is. I've never encountered a big lineup. You can shred all day without waiting in line. Plus the upcoming peak chairlift they're building. It's definitely one of my favorite resorts to go.

Marmot Basin is a great ski hill to learn. Lots of easy ways to get down. While being hard to lose your sense of direction with everything linking down to the base of the mountain. Though having skied there for 14 ish years, I can say dont underestimate the more advanced terrain. Nob gives you a great variety of skiing. Being able to hike up and get some better snow and harder terrain or going right off the lift and skiing down plenty full runs and bowls. That being said dont underestimate Paradise chair either having lots of lovely blacks right under the chair and to the skiers right, while also giving great access to Tres Ombres. All in all a great mountain for families of all skill levels alike!

Amazing, not too big ski resort. Easy to get to know the resort because its not too big, but big enough to keep having fun riding different slopes. There is not really après ski here, so amazing for families and children. There is always the possibility to drink a beer somewhere so that is nice. Overall amazing resort!

The skiing at Marmot is fantastic. Some days it can get pretty wind-whipped and icy but when they get big dumps the skiing is phenomenal. Lots of big features and lots of open groomed runs for beginners. The tree skiing is great, its fast and aggressive. Ive rarely stood in a lift line at Marmot and I think because of its distance from major cities. The crowd is mostly from Edmonton and its got a friendly local feel to the hill. The staff are great, always friendly and understanding. I wish they would bring back the free skiing on your birthday deal, we always made a trip to Marmot for that but we seem to be going less as a group now.

Awesome, family friendly resort just outside the town of Jasper. Great options from beginners all the way through to advanced skiers if you know where to go and if not definitely check with some of the locals who will show you the best spots!
Since my basins about 45 minute drive from the town of Jasper the resort itself doesn't have a huge option variety of eating outlets but the town of Jasper is a great place to go for more options and to enjoy the rest of your day close by.
