What Skiers Say About Marmot Basin

Marmot Basin attracts skiers and snowboarders of all levels, from beginners to experts, with families being particularly well-represented. Users consistently mention minimal lift queues, friendly staff, and the convenience of parking close to the slopes. Snow quality is frequently praised when conditions are good, though several reviewers note that the resort can be lean on snowfall compared to other Rockies resorts and that icy patches or bare spots appear in lighter seasons. The resort is described as quiet and uncrowded, with terrain suited to natural riding including tree runs and powder bowls. Reviewers repeatedly highlight Marmot as good value compared to larger resorts, though food and beverage prices are considered expensive. The mid-mountain chalet is mentioned regularly as a pleasant spot with fire pits and music, though it can get crowded at peak times.

I visited Marmot basin after living near there resort for 6 months and found it to be a lovely, quiet, family friendly and cozy resort. The staff are amazing and the resort itself always attracts regular customers, many with young children. The lift lines are basically non existent but in peak season they are well managed by very welcoming and smiley employees. Although there arent any lively apres bars the mid chalet has good quality food and refreshing drinks all season. The groomed runs are amazing with fresh cords every morning. The off piste terrain and tree runs are tranquil and always full of the classic champagne powder. I would recommend everyone to visit this resort, especially in early Christmas time when the inversions over the valley are one in a million.

Ive been to this resort a handfull of times both with family members who were new to skiing and on my own. I believe it to be a great place for new skiers to learn as there is a decently large dedicated run and lift for skiers/boarders trying to learn aswell as a ton of nice groomed runs for all skill levels and the instructors are incredibly kind, patient, attentive and all around great. I also found the double black diamonds and off pist runs to be incredibly fun with some being great for your first time on a double black whilst simultaniously having very challenging lines right close by with easy lift access. The off-pist runs were quite enjoyable aswell with a gnarly powder bowl that you can absolutely SEND and there is minimal traffic there which allows for many opportunities for fresh powder, nice turns or insane lines at incredible speeds. Plus walking the spine of the mountain and pretty much any other spot that you need to hike to offers unforgetable views that will have you wanting to go back time and time again. Only bad thing i would have to say is the chalet food was incredibly expensive for very low quality so pack some snacks and sammies for mid mountain snack breaks or you can ski directly to the parkinglot which was super convienient. <3

The off piest trails are phenomenal here, I would highly recommend this mountain to anyone who loves hitting deep off trail powder I was very surprised and not expecting it to be like that but definitely worth the money especially if you have a escape card cost $90 and first visit fourth and seventh visit are free and the rest of the times gone are 30% off for multiple mountains

My first time going here I had so much fun. The workers here were really friendly, the runs were in really good condition, the terrain park was great and everyone else skiing there were quick to give tips or help you. I would very much recommend everyone goes here.

Always loved marmot its a shame it doesnt get as much rep as other resorts. It recently just added a new quad chair that goes to the top which allows for access to new high alpine terrain

Really good quiet resort, definitely needs a decent amount of snow to really shine in its best terrain. Not the location for your park rat, but has some good technical options and fun tree sections.

Plenty of groomers good for all levels. Get up to the top of knob chair for the best powder at the hill and a gnarly cliff drop right under the chair lift. This mountain thrives in early season powder and definitely worth a visit. Open untill mid may for some slushy spring skiing in your best tank top

The lower mountain is great for beginner and intermediate skiers, and the East bowls, Knob chair, and west side give great terrain for advanced and expert skiers. You can find some great tree skiing across the entire mountain. Provides great runs that can start as an expert run, become tree skiing, and end as a relaxing groomer. Never too busy or very long lines.

A great family-friendly ski resort! The hill is designed with a lodge half way up the mountain that most of the runs funnel to - making it a great place to find your lost or slower ski companions!

Truly a hidden gem, not nearly as busy as other more popular Alberta ski resorts. Very good flow to the resort and in the past several years they have been upgrading chairs and adding more expert terrain to appeal to more advanced skiers. Great family resort as there are runs for everyone.
