What Skiers Say About Marmot Basin

Marmot Basin attracts skiers and snowboarders of all levels, from beginners to experts, with families being particularly well-represented. Users consistently mention minimal lift queues, friendly staff, and the convenience of parking close to the slopes. Snow quality is frequently praised when conditions are good, though several reviewers note that the resort can be lean on snowfall compared to other Rockies resorts and that icy patches or bare spots appear in lighter seasons. The resort is described as quiet and uncrowded, with terrain suited to natural riding including tree runs and powder bowls. Reviewers repeatedly highlight Marmot as good value compared to larger resorts, though food and beverage prices are considered expensive. The mid-mountain chalet is mentioned regularly as a pleasant spot with fire pits and music, though it can get crowded at peak times.

Great resort both for skiers and snowboarders. Very beginner and family friendly with easy blue and green runs. Even for the intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders theres plenty to do like: double blacks, off piste, not groomed, tree runs or mogles. Food is good, but can be pretty expensive. Amazing ski school and great teachers!

I went skiing with my school and it was unreal. The instructors were so kind that we all were laughing all the time. The slopes were so quiet that we pretty much had them all to ourselves! They were groomed pretty often which enhance the memories of skiing we had. The tree runs were prefect including little jumps in which we all loved. Thank you for such an amazing time

This is my number one pick to go to. Lineups. What lineups. Longest I have waited in the past 10 years is 5 min to get on a lift. Once that day. Typically it is 30 seconds. I would rather get as many runs in as I would like to do during the day than be standing in 10 to 20 min lineups. You can always find some fresh powder somewhere on the hill. There are all types of runs that your buddy who is a beginner to go down while you are on the run next to it or in the trees and meet up at the bottom or mid mountain. People working at the hill are always friendly.

This is a great hill that stays open longer in the season than most. Skied on April 21, 2024 and still had a pile of snow left. All runs and lifts open. We took the entire family (family of 4) and skied for $300 CDN. The only down side is that food is atrociously expensive for what you get at the lodge. Beer was reasonably priced for a resort.

If you havent been, go there for the end of season spring skiing. You wont be disappointed.

Very very nice beginner mountain. Has an entire chairlift learning zone and has a variety of terrain to build up skills for bigger mountains. If youre willing to hike theres lots of terrain to explore, but nothing thatll scare you enough to back out. Super chill, can be busy depending on when you go, but definitely the hill to bring the family to and get everyone sliding around.

Great family resort with lots of different terrain. I have a 6,6,11, and 13year olds. We can ski together as a family due to the well planned out resort. Older kids can do double blacks while younger kids do blues and single blacks beside in even the expert terrain area for the most part. Some parts I cant take them all yet. Kids and I skied 10 days this year at Marmot and they were in line for first chair and most of my kids were in for the last chair everyday. Love the set up for parking. Ski right to your parking lot makes it a lot more convenient for parents. We all love Marmot and good value for money.

Decent routes, chairlift efficiency is pretty good. But like any other ski resort, the food is just way to expensive.

Marmot basin is a remote gem of the Canadian Rockies . For anyone who just wants to get loots of good skiing in. This place is for you. Great low level terrain that funnels together for beginners. Runs for the whole family to ski together or on runs beside . For experts , there is amazing terrain , the new tres hombres area is steep and long and some of the best fall line skiing out there. The new marmot cirque terrain is world class and requires a small traverse and hike. All of the expert terrain is rarely skid and once you are done , you can ski right to the lift and do it again . Marmot is not known for the most snow out there , but the season is long and if you can ski , you will be rewarded .

Marmot basin is a very friendly resort, however to access its around 20minute drive from the town of Jasper. There is plenty of restaurants up the mountains and you are never short of places to get a drink.

The runs are well groomed and there are plenty of off piste options with eagles east being a favourite.

The snow is okay but due to its cold nature you dont get a huge mount of powder and can tend to be hard and icy

Marmot Basin is always very consistent with the conditions. You pretty much know what you are going to get on any weekend there. The Chalets are quite small and crowded on the weekends, as are the main runs. Lift lines are not too bad. While there are several off piste and some tree options they are quite accessable and skied out pretty hard. Overall a decent hill for younger families with lots of easy options.
Definitely worth the trip once and a while.
