What Skiers Say About Marmot Basin

Marmot Basin attracts skiers and snowboarders of all levels, from beginners to experts, with families being particularly well-represented. Users consistently mention minimal lift queues, friendly staff, and the convenience of parking close to the slopes. Snow quality is frequently praised when conditions are good, though several reviewers note that the resort can be lean on snowfall compared to other Rockies resorts and that icy patches or bare spots appear in lighter seasons. The resort is described as quiet and uncrowded, with terrain suited to natural riding including tree runs and powder bowls. Reviewers repeatedly highlight Marmot as good value compared to larger resorts, though food and beverage prices are considered expensive. The mid-mountain chalet is mentioned regularly as a pleasant spot with fire pits and music, though it can get crowded at peak times.

Underrated resort as it’s harder to get to than the Banff/Lake Louise hills for tourists (4hr drive from Edmonton airport or from Banff area and risk highway 93 being closed). Great value and outside of a few times a year, it’s ski right to chair, minimal lines and waits. Jasper is a gorgeous town and has a real small town feel versus the tourist trap vibe of other towns. Check out the newly opened Otto’s Cache for coffee and great provisions. Great beer and grub at Jasper Brewing and their new sister distillery, Maligne is beautiful. Dine at Evil Dave’s, Raven and Olive. Also, the Korean restaurant is amazing. Love that little town and the hill!

I love taking the School house Chairlift up and just skiing over to the right to hit successive greens blue runs. I do this all day as my son and sister go up the mountain but people are so affable on the chair lift a nice chat often emerges. I love this place and Jasper is my favorite place in this world though the landscape has changed after the fires.

Marmot is a great place for a family, and an perfect place for any group that ranges from beginner to expert. There are extreme runs, and lots of double-black diamonds. There are many new runs. We love the new Eagle lift.

I have been skiing Marmot since 1975. I love Marmot and the town of Jasper, Alberta. I think this i s a Canadian gem. There were forest fires recently, but there are still many hotels. The town needs visitors because the federal government is so weak in its response to help rebuild the town (much like its lack of preventive action before the fires).

Marmot basin is a medium sized ski resort that is great for a day or two. While not a lot of terrain to explore, the groomed runs are wide and make for a good day of skiing. When the back country runs are open (ie: rock gardens) they provide a really good challenge and some great powder. The smaller size of the resort makes the cost less which is really good considering how much most resorts charge these days. Overall it's a great choice and good value for your money!

Love Marmot Basin for its "tail gate" opriins in the parking lots. Dress st uour car and then start skiing. A nice lunch in your own lawnchair saves time, miney and alliw me to follow a meal plan. Nearby the town of Jasper has a small town feel and no crowds.

Marmot is my go to ski resort. Its the most bang for your buck. With lift tickets being very affordable and the new knob chairlift, you cant beat the value you get at marmot.

Not a lot of snow this season (yet) however the hill is diverse enough to be able to find something fun. This family friendly hill has is not busy and Jasper could really use your support. Skiers/boarders/tourists welcome! Prices of food at the lower chalet are reasonable and snow is on the way.

Marmot basin is my local hill and I have a great affinity for it, while the snow is not always the best and seems like some of the nice snow storms just bypass us here it's such a nice quiet hill that odds are good of not queuing for lifts and having nice quiet runs where you can really try out new things with plenty of space. Downside though are that transportation from town is hard if you don't have your own vehicle and the hill is quiet a ways from local hotels etc.

This hill is awesome and has 4 full chairlifts and runs quite quickly allowing you to get the most out of your ski day! The knob and left hill side has amazing panoramic views of the mountains and the town of jasper. The hill is well maintained and they do avalanche control to ensure safety for all! There is something for everyone at this resort, everything from greens to double blacks and park features. My favourite thing is to go through the trees and seek out that thick powder! Food accommodations are excellent at the resort with mid mountain and base mountain chalets! 10/10 experiences everytime

Excellent Alberta hill, it's got everything you could want, the lodge is cute, though expensive (as they all are). Never seems to be too busy, and I love that when you are done you can ski right to your car.

Marmot was an amazing ski experience! It was a beautiful hill and runs were very fun but a little bare in some spots due to the wind. Lifts were very fast and efficient and I was never waiting for long.
