Not bad for an east coast ski weekend, not too many lifts and the resort scheduled to accommodate the guests, very long lift lines. My main plus was the mogul runs on the east side of the mountain and the expert lift being consistent and shorter lines. I can imagine it would be a lot more fun on a day thats a little less crowded.

Located only 1.5 hours away fork D.C., Whitetail Resort is the most convenient for those in the area. What it lacks in natural snow is made up for with excelling artificial snowmaking, as it has the most snowguns on the East Coast and of the highest quality, and cold temperatures is all it needs. This means, however, that there is no off piste, wooded, and powder zones. The resort is perfect for beginners, with a high capacity ski school and many beginner-friendly slopes. The resort is fairly small and very easily navigable and has 6 lifts, one of which is high speed. It also has 3 restaurants, a shop, a rental center and other amenities despite the nearest hotel being 3 miles away. Due to its proximity to D.C., it can get crowded on holiday weekends and is best to be avoided. A regular full day ticket is 100$, though the resort is now own by Vail and a part of the Epic Pass program. Whitetail is the ideal resort for any casual beginner to intermediate ski or rider in the D.C. area, but is not worth the trip for anyone looking for a more challenging experience.

Whitetail benefits most from being near DC and the burbs. Otherwise, not much going for it, if Im being honest. The high speed lift makes lapping the intermediate runs pretty fun, and the line moves quickly. When theres snow on the backside, there is usually no wait or crowd. I have the best time lining up the side hits. Park experience varies, but usually at least a handful of solid features. The guys on park crew definitely care about making a solid setup. Gets very busy on weekends, with the city crowd!
