What Skiers Say About Blue Mountain Resort
Blue Mountain is Ontario's largest ski resort, located within two hours of Toronto, and attracts a wide mix of families, beginners, and intermediate skiers alongside some advanced riders. Reviews consistently mention efficient lifts, well-groomed runs, and a lively village atmosphere with dining, shopping, and après options. However, the resort faces recurring criticism for weekend crowds leading to long lift lines, frequently icy conditions rather than powder, and high prices for tickets, food, and accommodation relative to the terrain offered. Advanced and expert skiers note the limited vertical drop and short runs compared to true mountain resorts, though many acknowledge it as the best option in southern Ontario. Several users mention good snowmaking infrastructure but warn that conditions deteriorate quickly under heavy use.

Food options were astronomically expensive and long wait times. Overall not great but is the best we have in Ontario sadly.
Ski rentals- expensive to buy at the resort, many options just outside the resort for more reasonable prices. Was sent to 3 different lines that took approx 1 hour to get the rental equipment! Equipment was in good condition.
Lift- gorgeous views, efficient and kind staff, low wait times.
Hills- happened to be extremely icy during this trip. Heard multiple experienced skiers say they should’ve adjusted the level rating for the hills based on the ice- I tried the most beginner hill and it was a sheet of ice. Other hills were better maintained and this isn’t typical of blue!
Food/drink- DELICIOUS but def on the pricier side. Many many options within walking distance, kind staff, good hours. Ate brunch at the Pottery- 10/10.
Accommodation- many options locally: on resort, Airbnb, local hotels. On resort was very expensive (we attended during peak season between Christmas and new years) and ended up staying at a higher star hotel off resort for about half the price. Ubers are pretty much always available and wait in the area.
Overall, I'd visit it again because it is conveniently close to where I live.
Slopes are great and experienced skiers/snowboarders will love the higher-rated slopes. There’s also cute shops and places to walk around for a break from snowboarding when the kids (or you) need a break.
