What Skiers Say About Blue Mountain Resort

Blue Mountain is Ontario's largest ski resort, located within two hours of Toronto, and attracts a wide mix of families, beginners, and intermediate skiers alongside some advanced riders. Reviews consistently mention efficient lifts, well-groomed runs, and a lively village atmosphere with dining, shopping, and après options. However, the resort faces recurring criticism for weekend crowds leading to long lift lines, frequently icy conditions rather than powder, and high prices for tickets, food, and accommodation relative to the terrain offered. Advanced and expert skiers note the limited vertical drop and short runs compared to true mountain resorts, though many acknowledge it as the best option in southern Ontario. Several users mention good snowmaking infrastructure but warn that conditions deteriorate quickly under heavy use.

Very nice overall villa and stay, rooms are clean, tidy and nice. The hills are good condition with all runs open. They are slightly icy in popular sections tho.

Fun time with friends, busy lifts, overall a fun experience with good conditions. I wish they groomed the runs between the day and night sessions.

Great hill. Can get busy, but tons to do and fairly close to southern and northern Ontario. Too cold to hit the hill? Go warm up at the on site Scandinavian Spa

Great place to go but not a great place as a beginner. Their bunny hills are perfect but as soon as you go to the next hill, it’s day and night. Much steeper and icier. Definitely could not “pizza” the entire way.

I like blue, but it is quite busy most days and I find gets skied off pretty quickly. Some runs are very crowded but ca find quieter areas near the edges of the mountain

While Blue Mountain is a small ski hill in Ontario Canada it attracts a large crowd mostly consisting of tourists and families.

Due to its location there aren't many powder days in a given season but most runs tend to be well groomed. There are a good variety of runs from beginner to black diamond, although the more advanced routes don't really match up to big mountain skiing.

Beginner - Intermediate runs are busy and there is often a long wait at the main lifts.

Off Piste + Glades - There are some opportunities to leave the trail, cut through the trees and possibly even find some fresh tracks, however due to the smaller size of the resort there are not a lot of these opportunities.

Terrain park - Gets the job done and usually has a few neat features to enjoy.

Ticket Prices - expensive for what you get.

Ski School - Adequate - only experience was with a toddler who made good improvements over only a few sort hours

Ski Rentals - Inefficient, slow + expensive. lost several hours waiting in lines to pickup and size equipment properly. Shortage of seats to get ready. Minimal storage options for personal belongings.

Lodging - lots of accommodations, including ski in/out, village lodging, nearby cabin or condo rentals, etc. Options in the village are often expensive and not well kept but offer a good amount of space for small families or groups. Unfortunately, due to the large volume of gusts that come to Blue Mountain all season the resort gets away with high prices and low quality regarding their accommodation.

Food - Not many good choices food in the village. Most, if not all, options are expensive and poor quality. Great opportunity to put in better quick serve and high-end dining options. Unfortunately, due to the large volume of gusts that come to Blue Mountain all season the resort gets away with high prices and low quality regarding food options.

Night Life - It's been many years since enjoying the nightlife at Blue but I would guess that a good time can be had, especially on weekends.

Family + Other Activities - There are a lot of options for families of all sizes. There is relatively easy access to snowshoe, crosscountry and snowmobile trails, tubing, indoor/outdoor heated pools, shops, spas, etc. There's usually entertainment in the main village square and Blue often hosts ski, music and other events that attract good crowds.

This is mountains is good for intermediate skiers as long as the snowfall was in favour for the season. It’s a good place to start off and the resort is absolutely beautiful. It’s a great family friendly spot and has a lot of activities outside of skiing that you can attend

snowboarding at the side of the resort gives you free parking ! just as long as they’re not full the only thing about this side is that they don’t do rentals for that you have to go to the main part of the resort and rent them and to bring them back as well no biggy tho as we came back ( we went on a thursday) it wasn’t busy and it had just snowed so it was perfect. everyone there was helpful and not too expensive for a weekday. definitely going back !!

Blue Mountain is a great beginner friendly option near the GTA. It is a bit more on the expensive side considering it’s not that big of a mountain but it’s definetly the best option nearby Toronto. The village is very cute and has tons of great restaurant options. The spa is also a great way to spend the day and unwind after you’ve hit the slopes.

Blue Mountain is a great option for a ski day in Ontario, especially if you’re looking for variety and good facilities. The mountain has a nice mix of beginner, intermediate, and a few more challenging runs, so it works well for mixed-level groups. The groomers are usually well maintained, and when conditions are good, the runs are smooth and fun.

The lift system is efficient most of the time, though it can get busy on weekends and holidays. Getting there early definitely helps. The village is a big plus—plenty of places to eat, grab a drink, or relax after skiing, which makes the whole experience feel more like a mini getaway.

It’s not a massive mountain compared to western resorts, but for Ontario skiing, Blue Mountain delivers a solid experience with good snowmaking, a lively atmosphere, and convenient amenities. Overall, it’s a reliable choice for both casual skiers and those looking to sharpen their skills close to home.

Good spot. Long lift lines and you need heavy snowfall to mal up for the short runs. It’s east coast skiing so best you’re going to get there.

My girlfriend bought us never again tickets ($30) which covers rentals, lessons and lift pass for the whole day. Had a great time learning from friendly and accommodating staff that coached you every step of the way building up your confidence. Once we finished our class we were able to head up the hill and put our new acquired skills to the test. Rode the whole day til close and it has been a life changing experience. 10/10 would do it again and again and again. I would definitely recommend the same for new people that are interested and curious about skiing/snowboarding. Such a fun adventure getting out there and was a sweet escape from the city.
