Mammoth Mountain Review Summary
Mammoth Mountain attracts predominantly advanced and expert skiers and snowboarders from Southern California, with many treating it as their home resort. Reviewers consistently highlight the extensive terrain variety, reliable snowfall, and long season extending into May or June. The resort draws heavy weekend crowds, particularly from LA, Orange County, and San Diego, leading to significant lift queues at base lodges and parking difficulties. Midweek visits are repeatedly recommended to avoid congestion. The après-ski scene at Canyon Lodge receives frequent positive mentions, though many note limited dining options both on-mountain and in town, with food described as overpriced and mediocre compared to European resorts.

One the the greatest Mountains in California for both skiers & snowboarders. Starting from the drive up to the mountain, extremely low altitude with a two lane easy to access, groomed all season, quick drive up. This is not a drive up a hill, its a flat level transitional drive into Mammouth Mountain. When you arrive in town, there are tons of HOTELS/HOMES & restaurants liquor stores. This town is fairly large in size, and there are soo many places to explore in town and off the grid. There are Tubbing places, snowmobile tours, and back country skiing as well. Take a night trip guided snowmobile tour, or dine up on the hill at a luxury restaurant. The mountain is divided into several parts. Front side has 4 lodges, and the back side can only get acccesed by the chair lifts. This is a FAMILY friendly place, for all ages! Enjoy a drink in town or dine in for lunch, or just catch the Gondola to the top of the peak of the mountain for views and pictures. No need to be a skier or snowboarder. If you would like to rent equipment, you can do so at a number of ski/snowboard shops in town, or you can rent directly on the mountain at any of the 3 lodges. There friendly staff will assist you with sizing and finalizing your rental, with a amazing selection for all rider types. Food & drinks on the mountain are offfered everywhere, and even on the middle of the mountain, just a gondola chair ride up. Bring your sleds to the mountain, if you have little kids, they can enjoy the small mountain slides. The mountain is extremely large, and has runs for all types of riders. There are plenty of groomed runs, mocked for skiers, and tree runs full of powder. Want to get extreme, take the face of the mountain (double black diamond) down a vertical hill. Explore the back side of the mountain, or additional terrain with precise runs specifiallly tailored to your ability! Finally, enjoy a day at the spa, or go to the gym. You can also drive down the mountain a ways to rhe NATURAL SPRINGS.
Hope you enjoyed my quick review of mammoth mountain, as there are too many things to list, and I continue with writing a small book about this place.
