Very crowded on weekends- best time to ski is mid-week, non holiday. Rarely has good powder- thats why they call it Sierra cement

Some of the best in California, certainly the best under 6 hours from Los Angeles. A little too many people for my taste but much less than bear mountain. When it gets powder it really turns on, super fun. Top closes often due to wind unfortunately. If youre used to riding in lower vis stormy conditions on a white out day you can get excellent runs to yourself as most of the people who ride there are more fair weather skiers and snowboarders, but that being said the first powder day of the season is usually beyond crowded. Honestly probably better to go hike for it on those early powder days. The terrain parks are excellent if youre a very competent / brave park boarder / skier. My only complaint is that they really should have some more progressive parks. Something between the discovery park (which is tiny and really difficult to keep speed up for) and South Park which is more middle of the road. There isnt really a park to progress from disco to South Park, you kind of just gotta buck up and send it. Sometimes there will be a snake run hidden here or there with more manageable park features but thats not a guarantee. My biggest complaint would be how the traffic tends to get caught around mill and due to wind closures people do get bottlenecked in certain areas. Its not terrible but the reality is that there are just tons and tons of people that go there so there really isnt a great way to manage it. Theyre upgrading chairs at the bottom but youll still see crazy lines every now and then, they do a good job and getting things moving to ease that when it happens but its just a lot of people even for how big the mountain is. I would love to see some of the other mountains in the area opened up with lifts, especially on a pow day. Ive scoped some lines on the surrounding mountains from the town, although maybe I just need to invest in a split set up! TLDR: its a damn good mountain especially when it turns on, my biggest complaint is just all of the other people lol

My favorite resort. Cool mountain town there decently affordable. Hard to get to which will limit crowds outside of peak weekends. Really cool area with a ton to do in early and late season.

Mammoth is by far my favorite mountain in California. You can ski well Into the summer time (seasons are long) and they really have something for everyone! I could go time after time and still love it! They recently added a super fun apres scene to one of their lodges in the past years and it really cant be beat!

I know Mammoth Mountain very well, it is my home Mountain. It is exactly is. Its name suggests, Mammoth. Big terrain, has something for everybody, and they Uber long season stretching into June usually. Snow comes in big 3 to 6 foot dumps and otherwise often sunny and blue skies. Weather generally is warmer than most resorts in the US. They do some spectacular Events, including night of lights, which is a firework and other light show in December, Pond skim in April and Early ups For ikon Passholders

Ive been riding in Mammoth Mountain for about 14 seasons, and Im still not tired of it. There is so much to choose from when the mountain is up and running at full capacity and the mountain staff does such an awesome job taking care of the mountain and being of help Whenever help is needed. It has definitely gotten more expensive over the past couple of seasons, especially the lodging. The dining options on the mountain are great, even for vegetarians, which I am. I love Mammoth. Its my happy place.

Base areas can get pretty crowded, but spreading out should find much smaller lines. There are gourmet grilled cheeses for sale on the back side - dont miss them!

Mammoth is my home mountain and I love it. Quiet mid week but busy on the weekends. Find your way up higher to avoid the crowds. Journey over to chair 9 for a wonderful mix of harder blues, fun blacks and trees!
