What Skiers Say About Val Thorens

Val Thorens attracts a wide range of skiers and snowboarders, from beginners to experts, with many praising its high altitude for snow reliability throughout the season. The resort is part of the Three Valleys, offering extensive terrain and well-maintained pistes with efficient lifts and minimal queuing. Après-ski is consistently highlighted as lively and energetic, with popular venues like Folie Douce and Bar 360, though some note it caters more to a younger, party-focused crowd. Most accommodation is ski-in/ski-out, and reviewers appreciate the variety of runs, though several mention that food and drinks are expensive. Beginners note limited green runs and that many blues can be challenging or icy, while advanced skiers praise off-piste options and access to neighbouring valleys.

The resort was excellent. Nice food and plenty to do. The lifts and ski lessons were a good experience to explore the runs as a beginner with the instructor showing the good ski runs.

Val Thorens and the 3 Valleys Ski area is great! As it’s such a large area you can spend the whole time trying new runs. Whether a beginner or advanced skier there are runs for everyone. The lifts and runs between resorts can get quite busy and therefore the snow can get rough quite early in the day, however overall the piste quality was great. The parks are well groomed and well equipped for different ski abilities also.

Just finished our snowboarding trip in Val thornes, had such an amazing time on the slopes and the quality of the runs were amazing for all levels of skill.

Everyone we met were really friendly especially the staff at la grange restaurant were we had our evening meals and breakfast every day, highly recommend going if your in the area, excellent service from all staff members.

Looking at going again next year just trying to decide where to go weather it will be Val thornes again or somewhere different as we really enjoyed our trip! Also la folie douce is a must if visiting. Luckily we managed to get tickets to Afrojack was an amazing experience to have on the slopes!

An excellent resort for any ski ability. We went with one adult and one child who had never skied at all and one adult who was an experienced skier. Something for us all and not too daunting for new skiers. We had ski lessons which were well worth the money and progressed to blue runs after two days. We will definitely come again.

Barely queued for lifts max 2 mins.
Slopes were groomed well every morning and held on throughout the day.
Reds and blacks were extremely quiet green and blues a little busier but everyone there were very respectful.

My favourite apres particularly the saloon bar.

I stayed in Val Thoren after previously staying at Les Menieur as I knew the ski in ski out options were plentiful and the snow was guaranteed.

Pricing was steep, but it was worth it for the skiing alone.

Stayed in a chalet which was ski in, ski out... which applies to pretty much all the accomodation. Good varied skiing which suited our group of varying anikities. Had a 3 vallees pass so skied all across to Corcheval via Meribel and back a couple of times. The main slope running passed Val T can get quite congested due to the ski schools and all the runs converge together. Good food and drink options. No cars. Great apres ski. I would definitely go back.

Had a wonderful time at Val Thorens, it is also well connected to the rest of the „3 vallees“ so lots of ski runs available for all levels. Great food options as well as après ski places.

This was my first time skiing in Europe, and it did NOT disappoint. We had incredible weather every single day for a straight week, and there was a storm that rolled through just before we got there. Hands down, best skiing of my life! Wide, long runs, great snow pack, and enough variety for all skill levels to enjoy. I had friends take lessons and they all were complimentary of their time. I’ve also never skied somewhere without any trees, and that was just funny to experience. The skiable area is so large that you really don’t need to get the three valleys pass, but it was fun to mix it up and ski all the way to Courchevel (make sure to take the first lift in the morning…it’s a full day event). Groomed runs were perfect, and off piste was really fun! The après experience was insane…make sure to get to the locations closer to the start time otherwise you will just hit crazy long lines. Folie Duce never disappoints!
