What Skiers Say About Val d'Isère
Val d'Isère attracts predominantly intermediate to expert skiers and snowboarders, with many reviewers noting the extensive ski area (particularly when combined with Tignes) and high-altitude, snow-sure terrain. The resort is consistently praised for its après-ski scene, especially venues like Cocorico and La Folie Douce, and the quality of piste grooming. Beginners report mixed experiences, with some finding suitable runs at altitude but others noting that routes back to the village are red or black, requiring gondola access. Nearly all reviewers mention high prices for accommodation, dining, and lift passes, though most consider the overall experience worthwhile despite the cost.

With some effort its easy to visit all 4 corners of the piste map in a single day.
Skiing is brilliant. Village / resort is high end and picturesque.
Plenty choice for eating out but not cheaply.
Overall I love this resort.
Friendly people, great snowboard teachers. Loved the apres ski stops on the routes, multiple levels available and not too busy! Would go again.
A huge ski range that links with Tignes is aimed at mostly intermediate skiers. There is some more advanced options and with a guide some amazing off piste/back country to explore.
It is a very popular, very busy resort, so dont expect any quiet runs.
Good uplift system keeps queues to a minimum. Good apres ski and plenty of Restuarants in the town itself.
Can be very expensive in comparison to other resorts nearby.
