Val d'Isère Review Summary

Val d'Isère attracts predominantly intermediate to expert skiers and snowboarders, with many reviewers noting the extensive ski area (particularly when combined with Tignes) and high-altitude, snow-sure terrain. The resort is consistently praised for its après-ski scene, especially venues like Cocorico and La Folie Douce, and the quality of piste grooming. Beginners report mixed experiences, with some finding suitable runs at altitude but others noting that routes back to the village are red or black, requiring gondola access. Nearly all reviewers mention high prices for accommodation, dining, and lift passes, though most consider the overall experience worthwhile despite the cost.

Val D and Tignes area is very extensive. Almost three valleys to explore. Fantastic for advanced skiers as there are many black runs and hard reds , mixed with mogul fields. High resort so almost guaranteed snow. Fab on slope restaurants e.g panoramique. Apres at cocos has elevate the resort. Expensive but worth it. Good for good skiers and younger, party centred holiday seekers

Went to a few resorts when young, but have consistently gone back to Val dIsere / Tignes due to the quality of the slopes and off piste. Very nice resort that is a strong options for all levels.

A really pretty village at high altitude so a reliable snow sure ski resort that spans across the valley and has access to Tignes with an Espace Killy pass. We staid in la Daille, just a short stroll to the lift or funicular and on a regular bus resort to the main lifts in the centre of Val DIsere. Staying here can be expensive but if you book early enough there are some cheaper options to be had. There is a great Apres vibe at the Folie Douche at the top of La Daille, but also options at the foot of the lift or centre of the village. We found eating on the mountain was generally cheaper in Tignes. Great off piste here too if you are an experienced skier. Have been back time and time again, highly recommend.

There is aomething for everyone and all abilities available in Val DIsere. Great selection of runs both above and below the tree line.

Largeish village has bohemian charm, and a great selection of shops / restaurants and hotels.

Accom and eating out are on the expensive side, so budget liberally (e.g. 50 per dinner per person).

Great Après Ski parties on the slopes and in the village.

Great resort with loads of track to ski and board throughout your trip mixed with Tignes under the Espace Killy you can ski a full day without hitting the same slope twice.

The village itself is lovely and has a great feel and look to it. Fitting to a fairy tale for the buildings and the look of the entire place.

The one downside could be the cost of everything out there. Theres separate costs for tourists and seasonaires on many things which is a significant difference and youll be paying 20 for a single small sausage and chips on the slopes. Outside of that the place is lovely and a great place to spend a week tearing up some mountains.

A fantastic resort good runs good lifts plenty of area to Cover. if you drive like us double check the head height for the car park as we couldnt get in with the roof box on but once we found the car park attendant we easily changed car parks .The Kids loved the microlight flights from the Tignes side . We went for Easter and were in self catering accommodation we stayed in the central area although the resort seemed relatively quiet we found it quite hard to get into restaurants in the evening without pre-booking so when we go again, we will book an itinerary of restaurants for the evenings, eating on the mountain during the day we found a little expensive but go with that in mind just take a little bit extra money and youll have a great time. Now planning our next trip next Easter.

Val dIsere is a nice resort with absolutely world class scenery and lovely pistes for intermediate to advanced skiers. There are good training options from ski schools to nice green runs easily accessible from town. Lifts are fast and modern, and with the link to Tignes this is an absolutely massive ski area. However, it must be noted that it is quite expensive, even by French ski resort standards, so be prepared for high prices. For a great place to stay, the village of La Daille just next to Val dIsere is quiet with a cable car and funicular that can take you high up to the middle of the resort quickly, as well as direct to La Folie Deuce. All in all, a very nice and beautiful resort with great terrain, but definitely not the most affordable.

Classic resort that every skier should try, it does not disappoint, linked with Tignes makes a vast area, busy town making après ski very lively, the snow though comes early and stays late, challenging off piste is there for the taking, if you haven't been....GO

Val dIsère is a fantastic destination for intermediate skiers, offering a great mix of scenic blue and red runs across its expansive ski area. The wide pistes in the Solaise and Bellevarde sectors are ideal for building confidence, and the long, varied runs down to the village are a highlight. The resort connects seamlessly with Tignes, giving you access to even more terrain. Snow reliability is excellent thanks to its high altitude, though visibility can be challenging in bad weather. The charming alpine village adds to the appeal, with a lively après-ski scene and a touch of luxury. A great choice for intermediates looking for both adventure and ambiance.

Massif ski area with lots of options, good choice of nightlife. Some accommodation is quite far from the ski lifts so look closely at what you book.

Val d'Isere is an excellent resort. For the first week of December there was a good amount of snow and lots of powder on the first few days. There are a variety of slopes with the Glacier on La Grande Motte being one of my personal favourites and Santons into Val D'Isere. Aprés at Cocorico does not disappoint and there are plenty of different accomodation options from the most basic rooms to full all inclusive in Club Med Tignes. Overall, had a great time.

Having only skied once before which was 25years ago, i found the slopes very accessible for a beginner. The ski lifts were fast, reliable.and very easy tonuse, with tue cast majority being chair lifts. The restaurants onbthe slopes were very well appointed woth a large selection of food and drinks to suit any palette. Spacious indoor and outdoor dinning areas make them the perfect place for some down time inbetween runs. My personal recommendation would be Les Marmottes which offered excellent value for money whilst being very conveniently located in the midst many green slopes.
Val d'isère itself is a wonderful location that we found to be extremely welcoming and hospitable with a wode variety of shops, restsurant and bars that would provide ample choice for Apres-ski activities.
