What Skiers Say About Tignes

Tignes attracts primarily intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, with reviewers consistently noting the vast ski area, high altitude ensuring reliable snow coverage, and strong connections to Val d'Isère. The après-ski scene, particularly venues like Cocorico's and Folie Douce, receives frequent praise. Multiple users mention well-groomed pistes, efficient lift systems, and minimal queuing outside peak periods. Common criticisms include high prices for food, drink, and lift passes, limited terrain for complete beginners (many greens require blues to access), and a lack of tree-lined runs due to the high altitude. Several reviewers describe the resort architecture as functional rather than picturesque, and conditions can become icy or mogul-heavy by late afternoon.

The resort was a lot of fun we got one good weather day but that didnt hinder my opinion of the puffy snow we experienced during the whiteouts. The slopes were definitely beginner friendly a lot of them very wide, rarely did I come across obnoxious moguls and the only thing lacking was a greater challenge on-piste for more advanced skiers like myself. However, this lack of fulfilment on the slopes meant I had the encouragement to expand off-piste of which I believe there is a lot to explore and experience with great views in good weather.

The skiing in the Tarentaise Valley covering Tignes and Val dlsere has a wide variety of mixed ability slopes. This is particularly good for a range of abilities.

The resort also has the Grand Monte glacier which has some of the nicest runs, but fantastic views. From the glacier you can ski all the way done to Val Claret Tignes.

The resort also has dedicated snow park areas containing rails, boxes, half pipe and jumps of all sizes. The number of smaller jumps is more limited.

The Tignes resort and area have some greater apres locations. I would recommend the famous Foli douce. As well as either Cocoricos in Tinges or Val dlesre. And also bollin in tignes.

We travelled to all corners of the resort over the week. All areas were open and skiable even though late season. A really good mix of greens through to blacks that suit all abilities. Our mixed abilities group all found suitable runs. Plenty of lifts and even in peak season queues moved fast.

Follie Douche above Thommasus is great for the apres or The loop bar in Tignes Le Lac.

Tignes has always been one of my top three favourite resorts. It provides various terrain with wide range of difficulties, as well as convenient link to Val dIsere. Fabulous skiing and absolutely banging apres. Also a lot of really high quality ski in ski out accommodations, as long as you are willing to pay good money for it.

A fantastic resort for skiers of all abilities, especially with the full Espace Killy lift pass combining the Tignes and Val D'Isere ski areas.

Heading up to the Grand Motte Glacier on a sunny day is an absolute must. At the other end of the valley the view from the Aguille Percey is epic.

You can have a groomed descent through the trees all the way down to Tignes le Boisse and Le Brevieres, as well as race around on the higher slopes up in the main Valley.

The off piste skiing is a little limited to finding unusual ways of picking routes down the mountain, but there are still challenges out there.

Make sure to get to Le Coulouir bar in Val Claret for their happy hour and get yourself the best Mojito you'll ever have.

Tignes has great âpre and the ski area combined with Val Disaire is massive and well serviced so the skiing is incredible and very snow sure. Tignes is much more affordable but still offers great night life and ski in ski out options

Love Tignes, will be returning for a season this winter, best resort in France hands down! Such good ski options and my friends who use the park were very impressed with it, fantastic slopes with a huge variety of levels.

Epic resort, with access to Tignes and Val. Ski area is amazing and the lifts run well and didnt have queues in mid March. Only difficulty is getting from 2100 to Val claret after a night out as the bus only runs once an hour.

I absolutely love Tignes! Coming from a country where off piste skiing is not really a thing, it was awesome to have so many options to hire a guide and ride outside of the resort boundaries. The ski school we used was great with our kids and will return again.

First time in Tignes and loved the area. Had skied in Val Disere many years ago but Tignes is a better base I would say. We stay in Tignes le lac and right oppposite lifts so ski in and ski out at Levanna Hotel. Really good snow but enough runs for all levels and some ungroomed black runs as well. Went up to Grand Motte via funicular and gondola and some great runs down. Also skied over to Val Disere with some step stuff as well. Highly rated and would go back especially as it's a high altitude resort with glacier so snow sure.

Good all round resort great if you want après-ski and off piste. More suited to good to advanced skiers not great for beginners as a lot of red and black runs very few greens. Rarely a lift cue as there are lots of lift going to different places rather than just a few lifts serving the whole resort

Were currently staying in Tignes and enjoying our first visit here. A great variety of slopes and huge range spanning Tignes to Val DIsere. Very family friendly with a good selection of hotels and restaurants.
