Méribel Review Summary
Méribel attracts predominantly intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, many travelling in mixed-ability groups or families. The resort is consistently praised for its central location in the Three Valleys, offering efficient access to Courchevel and Val Thorens via well-maintained lift infrastructure. Reviewers repeatedly mention the extensive ski area, good piste grooming, and lively après-ski scene, particularly at Rond Point and La Folie Douce. However, the high cost of accommodation, food, and drinks is a frequent complaint, with many noting that Méribel is significantly more expensive than resorts in Austria or Italy. Lift queues can be an issue during peak periods, particularly on lower lifts, though most report they move relatively quickly. A few snowboarders mention flat connecting runs as problematic.

Although a huge ski area, it does get very busy, it is possible to find quiet pistes if you know where to look but they are few and far between.
Off piste skiing is readily available although not comparing to areas such as chamonix there are still lots of options if you're up early on a pow day. However the pow doesnt go untouched for long.
Guaranteed snow is always a positive but it comes at a price that is reflected in both lift passes, accommodation and resturaunts.
Beginner slopes are available but the resort better caters to intermediate and advanced skiers.
However would fully recommend to all levels of skier.
There are so many ski schools so its great for families.
Its means you have the best of Courchevel and Val Thoren the neighbouring resorts which are highly connected and very skiable for all abilitys.
Meribel due to its location arguably boast the best apres and some hidden gems when it comes to skiing as so many simply pass through.
I have skied Meribel for many years and entering a second season there and theres still places to explore.
The only downside is the expense, high ski pass prices and food, however there is some local knowledge to discover to keep those prices down.
Having experienced all 3 valleys, Meribel offers a brilliant start point to get to all the slopes and a fantastic end point to have a few drinks and a meal while still offering great shops and a warm feel for the weather.
Fully recommend the apre if you get chance and a trip down the mountain if you want a break from the hard-core winter sports atmosphere.
All in all, loved my times there, would definitely go back, especially seeing as I proposed to my now wife there. Will be taking our daughter as soon as we can.
Where the 3 valleys stand out is its range of restaurant options, nearly all very easily accessible from the piste.
Also a great apres ski scene with a folie douce up the mountain and the rond-point in town.
Ski school choices are extensive, including a number of British schools including Parallel Lines who offer everything you'd need.
The connection to Courchevel if you wish is quick and convenient, but obviously, you have to be aware of your return options if a storm causes interruptions in the lift system.
There is amazing, broad, easily accessible inbounds offpiste right beside the pistes.
In comparison to e.g. Avoriaz the pistes in Meribel/ Courchevel were wider and the variety and number of pistes was surprising.
The mountain restaurants I visited weren't cheap, but where is these days?
I know several of the ski instructors and would recommend Ski With Ease, who really go above and beyond the standard ski school experience.
They will take you to those secret quiet spots where the snow lies untouched for days.
Mountain hits were also very expensive.
Need to book restaurant very early in the week we did not do this so had trouble finding somewhere to eat out but we managed
The supermarket closed at 8 pm so not ideal ass we only got back from appre ski about 8 but everything was to hand
Bit expensive in resort bus's very good
